Hi folks,

I just picked up a new Fender Super Sonic 60 combo. Great amp! The only issue I have is that the footswitch (3 botton) needs to extend way beyond the 12 feet or so of the included one. My question is - what kind of cable can I use to connect the included footswitch to amp?

It looks like a standard guitar 1/4" mono cable, but is that what it really is? I'm kind of afraid to experiment.

Thank you!

-Andrew

AFAIK the footswitch cable needn't be of the shielded variety -- any speaker cable with ¼" phone plugs at each end should work just fine.

Yes ,any wire with regular phone plug , not stereo . Guitar wire may work too

BTW, don't try that with 'non-Fender' multi-button footswitches as Fender's switching system is unique on many of their newer amps.

Correct.

Fender's switch passes only control voltages to selected channeling diodes -- others pass actual audio-level signals which are susceptible to extraneous noise and require a shielded cable.

I thought 'others' were simply wires to complete a latching circuit (in the fs) remote from the amp and worked with 1 wire per function + a common gnd. And used TRS cables (because they're very common) to get the 2 functions with the shield serving as the common gnd.????? (This means that a TRS is needed for every 2 buttons on the footswitch.) Wasn't aware shielding was required.

Reviving old thread - just bought a Supersonic 60 combo second hand - the footswitch cable is NOT original and is shorting out.

Should i be okay sharing the footswitch cable from a Mesa Mini Rec footswitch? I believe it is a speaker cable they use?

Thank you

Hi Mike,

I've had success using both speaker cable and guitar cable with the SS60 combo.
