The guitar is my 50th Anniversary Limited run Stratocaster with the Custom shop 54 pickups

I will record my Melody Maker with twin P-90's later for a slightly more aggressive sound

BB, you got that thing sounding sweet. Sounds light years different than the Ramparte's I tried when they first came out.

Preamp tubes and adding my compressor to the front end, gives me a clean boost and tone control
Honestly, thats all there is to it !
I do have a weber 12F150 50 watt light dope that will be here tomorrow, not sure its even needed

Whats funny is that I've used the same tube compliment and compressor for every amp I have used over the last ten years, from a nearly 3K Clark piedmont, multiple Bassman heads Black and silverface etc......
I like what the Route 66 comp side does to any tube amp, so The Ramparte was no exception, the results seem to speak for themselves

Where the Weber's going to shine is when you push it hard. I just built a clone of the old Ross Compressor and I really like it. It adds a little warmth, sustain and has just a tiny bit of dirt that I like a lot. Those old Ross Compressors were pretty sweet.

I am a little concerned with what I have read from others who have done speaker swaps on these, according to them the lock tite on the speaker nuts makes it near to impossible to remove them and one guy had to pull the bolts through and add new hardware.
Makes me wonder if they took the time to pull the chassis and the rear panel ??

Today is the arrival date so we shall see

Well although i saw the issue some had, really all it needed was a clean up with a utility blade before you try unscrewing the nuts
That green hard candy looking locktite is hard but it cuts easily so...........

In 15 minutes I had the Chassis out and the old speaker on the bench, no issues with the studs or nuts

Well I stand corrected
The weber is soooooo Bright and does not work in this amp at all.
I went back and listened to the clip and it really needed no improvement.
Bummer I really hate wasting time and $$$
Had to crank my comp way to the dark side to get a good tone :(

This bad boy needs a C-rex or stay with the original !

Ouch, sorry to hear that. BB, can you use it somewhere else? Probably an Alnico might have been a better choice or calling Weber to see what they recommend. That's what I did for both my amps, they didn't steer me wrong. Just curious, why a 50 watt speaker for a 9 watt amp?

Honestly it was a project that never happened from another fella (I didn't pay full price) and I just thought it would bring out some good stuff from the Ramparte , the amp is internally pretty bright from the tone stack, again my guess is that a C-rex or the Alnico Canis would be killer in this amp.
No worries it will go to a good home.
Again the stock speaker sounds wonderful as long as you can play it above 1.8 or so, below that its stuck in a box, after that it BLOOMS !!! Big !

I put another sound clip on the Stratocaster page showing off the sound of my parts-o-caster with Tex-Mex pups
