I do rather fancy one of those myself. Almost bought one off ebay but someone had the tenacity to bid against me - I know, what a damn cheek.

It is great when you plug into an amp and just enjoy the sound it makes.

Playing the amp through the oversized, customized partial open back 1x12 seen in the picture really opens up the sound of the Ramparte !!!
Thats the cab with the Weber sig 12b in it.
I also have a slightly broken in Swamp Thang in a box in my shop, bet that would make this amp about as tight in the lower end as it could get !
Also kicking the idea of a 12F150 in there.

I really think people made up their minds to dislike this amp before even really trying it, any other Fender would get a chance with tube swaps, speakers etc.....
This one got a raw deal.
I got an excellent deal  due to the lack of love so.........

So.......................
I pulled the two jj12AX7 preamp tubes and put in a Raytheon 5771 in V-1 , one of those hungarian 12AX7's with the little tag (beemer will understand) in V-2
OH MY !!! seriously folks this little amp is so freak'n clear and the lows are bouncy and sweet !!! the highs are perfect !!!
Route 66 Compressor side only and my Cmatmods Signa Drive, the thing sound like one of my old blackfaced Bassman heads into a piggyback 2x12, HUGE power !!!
I will put up a sound clip in the next few days and you'll be stunned !
Dang !!!

And this is with the stock speaker through its own cab ! ya that tiny little thing sounds SOOOOO BIG !
Warning ! the speaker / amp is fizzy and unpleasant and super low volume (probably why the hatred) but as soon as you pass a spot that isn't far up the control at all, it jumps alive and has a bold sweet tone, sure the Comp is making it fatter with the gain and sustain cranked up, but it did the exact same thing on my 3K Clark piedmont and all of my bassman heads so......... Give it a break, there is some huge potential here !

Me either. That Weber Sig 8 I put in my old SF Champ was the best thing I ever did. The 12a125a in my 5e3 is a beautiful thing.
