I've seen these redone with the Fender "oxblood" grill cloth as well, and that looks pretty darned good.

I like that Philco too.

Put my Champ on layaway Sunday. I will get it out this week. I just did not have all my checks cashed and only had enough to put it on layaway. I played it for about 30 minutes in the store and tried both low and high inputs. I enjoyed the low for cleaner and the high seemed to allow me to get some nasty going. I enjoyed and can't wait to get it home.

Got my Fender Champion 600 out of layaway from last Sunday. I got home hooked it up and played for a few minutes sounded great! I then crashed out for a Sunday nap but here she is in her glory.
Image I am a member now! It is a sweet little amp!

Lovely amps , I agree, I love mine.
My question here is about your Gretsch, I am interested in purchasing one, probably from the Electromatic range, 6120, have you any advise or experienced of these guitars?

Thank you

hey paulie,
The gretsch Guitars are awesome. I have the Electromatic 5120. It takes a bit of getting used to being a hollowbody but once you make the adjustment to playing one you will love it. The Gretschbuckers are really nice with either mellow tones form the neck or a nice bite from the bridge. IMO you can't go worng with a gretsch. Hope that this helps,
ABS :D

Just got my new 600 today. After reading reviews and watching youtube videos, I had to try it out. I've been trying to get that SRV sound out of my Roadhouse Strat for years. I think I finally found it. It sounds so nice, even stock. I ordered better tubes, but can't believe they can make it sound better. We'll see. I don't want to put my Strat down now. I mic the little thing and send thru my PA. Works great. Forget the amp simulators or multieffects pedals. For less money, I got the real thing, and the size isn't much larger. Best alternative to the big size/weight/dollars of the Twins.

Temporary relief from my latest bout with GAS. Of course, my wife just rolled her eyes again. I shudder when she says she can't tell the difference in sound. I'm so glad my ears can hear the nuances of nice guitar tone. You know when you hear it and you get the hair on the back of your neck tingling? Love it. So far, I'm so impressed.

I have been using mine for about 8 months now. It is a great little amp stock. I might get around to upgrading it some.

Hey its Mike again, after reading all the ideas and suggestions, I've started looking into whats readily available here in San Diego. After reading about changing the speaker cloth, I decided to see if that would make a difference. I plugged in my G5120 with every thing on 10 and did indeed notice that the cloth on the speaker BULGED OUT! and farted. No smell so that was good. So I set out to find an "acoustically transparent material" didnt have anything in the house but while at Walmart my wife found in the arts and crafts section, some "airy felt" that I could blow through with no restriction of air flow. It cost a whole 20 cents. The difference is night and day! next: tubes!

Hi all, been a member of the club - unofficially till now I guess - for about a year, and I love my little Champ! Here's a pic that's kinda different - me playing my 7-string Rickenbacker frypan replica into my Champ. Took the pic just this afternoon for a Christmas card project. :)

And on that subject - Merry Christmas!

I bought one a few months ago and I really love it. I'd like it to go just a wee bit louder w/out distoring though. Currently I play it at just under 10 w/ my strat's vol. set at 8.

Is there a well recommended external cabinet for the champ? Ideally I'd like a single 10" speaker. Nothing too big, just a little bigger than the champ.

Also (and I apologize if this is a naive question), but what are the drawbacks of just buying a 2nd champ 600 and getting some device to split the signal and playing through both at the same time?

Thanks, Alex

None at all. Use this to split between them:
