Why is the new acoustasonics (90 and 150) so much lighter than the Junior or 30? I had a 30 and loved it but now its time to replace it. Hard for me to imagine why the new ones are so light.
I find the new ones sound a little different than the old, but then I have not found a new one yet that was broke in. I am trying to decide if I should be patient and find a good used junior, or go for the 150.
Any thoughts?

Could be a couple of things. Different cabinet material, cheaper transformers or miniaturized components or maybe smaller speaker magnets. I could never bond with the Acoustasonic series. Never liked the way they made my Martin Peforming Artist guitar sound. I went with Fishman. If you're not happy with the sound now, I don't think breaking it in will make that huge of a difference. I've had my Fishman Loudbox Mini for almost three years and it sounds exactly the same as when I brought it home.

My Martin D-16 and my Gibson Songwriter both do very well on the acoustasonic 30. I have played Fishman and the artist series is an option too. But in this forum I was trying to see if anyone really knew what Fender did with the new series. My gut tells me that the 30 and Junior are probably better than the new stuff overall. The sound was different on the 150 but not better or worse. I have searched the internet for info on the changes but not having much luck. Usually, in any blog that I post this question, I get a lot of replies about other brands instead of an informed answer to my question.
I felt what you suggested was probably the case, but I am hoping someone who has the technical scoop might run across my question and I could get more detail.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Unless you have both and take them apart, you'll never know. I build my own tube amps and effects too. I think they cheapened them up like they always do. I've played out of many of the Acoustasonic amps at different gigs. Not mine though, they always belonged to someone else, and I was invited to sit in. Fender was never a real heavy hitter in the acoustic market. Their real bread and butter is in electric guitars and amps.
