Finally got around to ordering a Zoom G3X to finish my little experiment and it is working pretty well..

Using the Zoom G3X and expression pedal mostly for the compressors, overdrives, distortion, acoustic sim, wah pedals and running it into input one of the vibrato channel of the DRRI.

Then I hooked up the Zoom G5 by running a cable from input two of the vibrato channel into the input of the Zoom G5 and the out put of the Zoom G5 into an Ditto Looper and then into the input one of the normal channel.

Using the Zoom G5 for all of the reverbs, delays, modulations, rotary cab sim, 12ax7 tube boost and whatever else I want, you can stackup nine effects and I have modded it so I can scroll it with a foot pedal.

Wow, it actually worked the way I wanted it to and it sounds damn good and the Ditto Looper turns it into one hell of a composing/practice machine, with no added hiss or noise. Much unlike the Boss RC2 hissy beatch..

That sounds like a very cool setup. Do your pedals switch between channels or use both channels together?

I am using both channels, I could hook up my Radial aby or my Morley Volume pedal with aby, but I am keeping it simple.

I have an analog pedal board that I usually run instead of the Zoom G3X in the same spot.

I have a Rat Pedal->Hardwire CM2->Fulldrive Fulltone II Mosfet->EH Small Clone->Boss BF3->Carbon Copy Delay->Volume Pedal->DRRI Vintage Input 1

That is six pedals and I can have the same six pedals pretty much with the Zoom G3X, but I have not done the scroll mod to it, so it is not as flexible right now.. I have one of the Zoom Exp. Pedals that I use for the Volume and the built in Exp. pedal controls the wah's and rotary sim, or whatever I assign it to..

I just got through jamming for around an hour or so testing tone and getting the levels and stuff dialed in and looping. The acoustic sim is pretty nice, lay a loop of acoustic backing and then play over it with the over drives and distortion or clean. I have the DRRI cranked on about four and it has pretty much the same tone as my analog stuff does..

The strat I am using has Dimarzio Virtual Vintage Heavy Blues 2 in the neck and middle and a Dimarzio X2N in the bridge and it is wired with a neck on switch with drop caps.. With all three pickups the acoustic sim sounds real convincing..

Main reason I am doing this is for experimentation of pedal placements and every time I come back from jamming somewhere it takes me a little while to unpack my stuff and get it back in place in my studio, so now I will have the Zoom G3X setup ready to go all of the time in the studio.. Plus I have almost any effect I could ever want in a small package for working on different sounds when I am composing stuff.

I still like the analog true bypass pedals for jamming live, I just feel the bigger components have the mojo with the volumes up, Zoom is getting pretty damn close though..

That Ditto Looper is a keeper, that Boss RC2 just sucks, noisy, hissy and no mods that I have found to fix it..
