I received this Oct 1998 dated Ultimate Chorus on a trade for some guitar parts, the fella said it came on and made noise.
Sure did, not good noise though !
See the first picture for what I found

Yep a piece of guitar pick wedged in to keep the circuit (sorta) connected, both legs of the cap had broken solder joints and the adjacent cap had one leg with no solder joint at all.
Hoosier ingenuity

All soldered up and secure, however the #1 stereo input jack was trashed, part on order
I'm betting someone gets another 17 years out of this when I'm done !

PS whats up with the red cones on the speakers ?????

Recently, my 1996 Fender Roc-Pro 700, which I acquired back in November of last year, died out on me. So my former Bass player who is also a amp tech , said he would take a look at it for me. Inside he found a whole bunch of solder splattered all over the circuit board and discovered that the Reverb Cap was tight as well. He also found out that the connecting wires to the speaker were loose and needed to be tightened as well. He had to order a couple of replacement parts and clean up the board and once he did all of that, the amp was back in order and now sounds brand new as if it just came off the assembly line.

I would be real interested in how solder was "splattered all over the board" !
That would take some extreme heat !!
sounds more like an exploded filter cap.
You would be amazed at some of the "repairs" I've seen

I bought a house that had a ceiling fan in a bedroom, it was wired into the 120 volt circuit with light gauge speaker wire and the wire was Very hot to the touch (temp hot) when i removed it, can we say house fire waiting to happen !!!
