Sorry for the blurry picture. I took it in a hurry before I left for my nephews birthday party. It's not a Fender but please welcome the new member to the family.

Sweet!

MB makes awesome amps, handwired in the US. Oh, and they sound great too. 8)

Congrats!

Nice selection! Don't think I have ever run across a bad Mesa Amp...well made and good tones. Enjoy it.

love to know what you think about it? How the clean channel is compared to a fender deluxe reverb, if you've played one before or have one? Thinking about these two amps very seriously!

King,
I do have a SFDR. Today was the first day I really got to play the Mesa. The clean is real close to the DR. In fact in time with speaker break in and tweaking the controls I can probably mimic the cleans. The drive channel is where this amp really shines.

The boogie takes up a smaller foot print and is lighter.

Granted it's new but this will likely become my go to amp.

Kingding,

If you are still interested, after several days of playing and swapping speakers between the two amps I have come to the following conclusion.

Cleans = The deluxe reverb wins. It just has a brighter, well rounded tone. The mesa's cleans are nice but a little darket. I suspect it's due to the differences in tubes.

Driven / Distorted = for me the mesa wins hands down. This baby rocks and will cover any style from slightly pushed to all out in your face. I would describe the distotion as tight. The sound "stays together" and doesn't get mushy.

Reverb = Nothing compares to Fender reverb. End of story

Volume = the DR is 22 watts and the Mesa is 25 watts but for whatever reason the DR sounds louder to me.

I like both amps. Which one I play is depends on the type of music I want to play that day.

Hope it helps.

thanks Kenny V!

King,

Tough to say which is built better. In fairness my DR was built in 1980. It's a rock solid, handwired, built in the USA amp. It will stand the test of time as it has so far.

The mesa is also built in the USA, but it is not handwired. Granted boogies are built by hand but they use printed boards. Not that it's a bad thing as long as it's a sturdy board. The cabinet of the boogie is solid as a rock. They did not skimp on materials and the fit and finish is impecable. Controls operate smoothly, but this should be expected as it is brand new.

Which amp will suit you better will depend on what style of music you play. Also, consider these two amps run on different power tubes.

Rectoverb = EL84
Deluxe Reverb = 6V6

Let me know music you play and I'll give you my recommendation. FWIW

Never had a Nomad then i take it LOL !!!!
I never had such a headache as when I had one of them ! spent lotsa time, energy and parts getting it back together and could not sell it fast enough !

Not sure what was worse, the Nomad or the Tourmaster combo from Egnater ??? both were nightmares.
The 50 caliber I had did have sweet Gain tones !

Last week I had a chance to demo some amps, I brought my prs tremonti, and plugged into 68 deluxe reverb,65 deluxe reverb,68 vibrolux, th30 orange combo, and a hrd emerald green edition.

My take on them the 68drv, and 68 vibrolux, were my two favorite they sounded balanced on sound and open, the 65 was a to brite like more of a country style amp, the orange had great power but sounded boxy in the combo not as open like it couldn't breath, the hrd sounded good but didn't like the touch sensitivity of the volume.

So the styles of music I play is really everything im in a band and we play country, blues, rock,R&B, and I also play Christian rock and gospel music.
I currently play thru a mustang iv v2 its ok but still not the warm sound from a tube amp, I don't really have any pedals just a mxr micro amp, and an old digitech rp100 or something like that. I also have a Fender Super Champ xd.

Some thoughts I still would like to test the mesa rectoverb head with a 1x12 vintage 30 cab, (bad Back), only thing is I don't know when that will be I live 2 1/2 hours away from the nearest dealer. later add another 1x12 later perhaps for outside gigs, we currently travel around and don't really like the thought of my tube amp in the enclosed trailer and bounce around back there, that Is why I like the head idea,if the mesa goes down I can always plug in my fender super champ xd, to the 1x12 cab, I forgot to mention, we also try to keep our stage noise down and mic everything up.

The two 68 fenders I like, always liked fender clean, and reverb especially these two, combos I'm leaning towards the dv, and get a mesa flux drive pedal to start off my new rig. its hard really torn between these amps because some people have issues some don't, I could put it in my enclosed truck bed to haul it when its not so cold up here in north Dakota, this is tough been saving my money to hopefully buy a first and last tube amp. thanks for listening.
