I just recently brought a new hot rod deluxe and I love the tone of this amp. However, it make a aggravating noise just after you pluck an A flat note. I have to it back to where I purchased it and they have looked it up and down. It plays wonderful but you hear this noise in the back ground while playing after you hit A notes and A flat notes.
Please help if any of you have had this similar problem!!!!

1- It might be a bad tube.

2- Speaker loose , defective ?

3- Did all tubes are well seated ? Push on them

4- vibration ; cab, transformer ?

Return back on waranty

I have done all that and now I have a new one. Same problem but this time on the A notes and A# notes this is a design flaw. Fender needs to look at this I have never hear a amp do this before and it is annoying.. Does anyone else have this problem with the new hot rod III deluxe.

I bought a HRDlx III in December, and I have not noticed any strange noises from it (other than my awful guitar playing).

Just a few thoughts, I'd play it for a good while & get speaker broke in. Or if it's the acoustics of the room I would try to play it in different rooms to see if it goes away. Or you may be getting wolf tones from your guitar. In that case adjust the pickups.

Actually that's a good point above.
Also,
You prob have had other COMBO amps before, some of mine are more bass sensitive than others. Now that i think about it, my 2-12"xxx is the only one that can handle the low E string with humbuckers and bass knob 6 or higher with the volume up. And even then, when i played mostly metal, i even then would have to plug in my 4-12 & unplug the internal speakers. Especially if i used my death metal pedal and the amps bass turned high.
But hey, maybe your bass knob is just on 3-4 and your amps vol is low and your not using any boost pedal, then yeah the amp needs fixing. Just sayin'

Have you tried it with a different guitar. Maybe it's related to the setup.

Hope this helps

Hey man. Check the magnet of the speaker. Try pressing on it while playing the problematic notes. Report back.

I have an older (early 2000s) Hot Rod Deluxe and I noticed that when I crank it I get obnoxious rattle that sounds like a small spring vibrating. I read somewhere to try the pencil eraser test and tap the tubes with one while it's on and I get a similar rattle, kind of like when you tap an incandescent bulb that has burned out, when I tap it. Pretty sure it's a bad preamp tube. thinking of switching all three of them out to 12AT7s to lower the crazy volume that gets mega loud at 2. Any thoughts?

that's what I was thinking, since it's the same note and on 2 amps now.
