Thanks Modwiz, after careful deliberation, I chose it instead of the Franzel options, after asking Franzel what the wait is after payment, which is 4 to 6 weeks. Sorry, I am not paying anyone that far out in advance of manufacture/shipment.

Sweetwater called me and told me the amp is not expected in warehouse for 2 more days. So I told them to ship it when it arrives.

And Fender if you made a 6V6 15 watt all tube (no modeling) option like the Tweaker in it's price range, I would have gone for that instead. I have always been a Fender amp fan.

DesertBluesman,

Congrats on the new amp. I've heard many good things about Egnater amps. I had the pleasure to play a rebel 20 once and was quiet impressed. Hope it brings you many years of enjoyment.

Rock on....

Thanks for clarifying the reason why you bought an Egnater over a Fender, after all this is a Fender forum.
That's a lot cheaper than a Deluxe Reverb, but I guess you just have the amp-head part, no reverb.

There is the SuperChamp or the Princeton combos using 6V6's,
but why only one 10" speaker and the cost for the Princeton a consideration for a tube only amp.
Lately, I've been leaning towards amps with more speakers, like 2-12" or 2- 10" speakers.
Now that you mentioned it, I bet the Egnator would sound great with 2-12" speakers, open back cab, imo.
I hope you like your new amp.

jackhammer I just sold my Super Champ X2. I liked it a lot, and after I sold it, I realized I could not replace that amp and all of it's capabilities, with anything for less than a grand if it were all tube. I post here because I still have my Fender Hot Rod Deluxe which so far is my all time favorite amplifier, and I have had Marshalls, Peaveys, Mesa Boogies, Music Man, and many of the classic Fenders, more of them than any other. And I would also have another Fender if they made something all tube in the price range of the Egnater. And if a small company can do what Egnater does, Fender could do that easy, and I wish they would.

And I posted this here because we had a dialog on this forum after I sold my SCX2 and there were a few guys interested in what I was doing to find a different amp than the SCX2. This post finishes that debate as done down below. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=97463

Congrats dbm. I'm very curious to hear how it sounds compared to the SC.

I have had an Egnater Tweaker 15 Head for around three years. Not a lick of trouble so far and it just sounds good every time I turn it on... Real versatile and it plays really well with all of my pedals and guitars. I have used 1 x12 cabs, 2 x12, 4 x12 and 4 x 10..

Used to drive the speakers of my Twin Reverb, Deluxe Reverb, Blues Deluxe, Blues Deville 410 and my Musicmaster Bass amp, sounds good through all of them..

I really have been thinking of getting another one for a stereo rig..

One of the quietest amps I have at idle, which is a good thing in my small studio...

Well Sweetwater did not receive the amp as promised, so I cancelled the order. for now. I might as well make a trip to GC to demo amps, maybe I can live with a Blues Jr with a hemp cone speaker. I am not real fond of EL power tubes, but another go at a demo at GC might change my mind.

Not a fan of EL tubes myself. I am finding American tubes and a brit voiced speaker are a good combo. Put a Weber Blue Bell hemp cone in my HRD and it is the best I've ever heard a 12" speaker, or my amp. I did put an 12at7 in V1. It is a different amp. I find 5 on the volume to be very db friendly. What is really great is by opening up the volume, one gets great full spectrum tone at very gentle volumes. I should have done this a long time ago.

Re: blues JR. Besides EL tubes, I think the cab is too small for an open back. If it was a sealed ported cab, it would be fine. Hemp speakers can help. You might try a Weber ceramic Blue Bell hemp cone. They are about the same price as a C.Rex.

Egnater amps have a great clean tone.
I had a Rebel 30 with a 12" and it was a very nice sounding amp.
The high gain wasn't that high but plenty for blues.
It didn't like gain/distortion pedals though.
But that could be because around the 3rd week the amp went bad.
I think it was only a pre tube but I didn't want to mess with it because I didn't like the high gain channel as it didn't have enough for what I wanted at the time.

So I returned that I got the Egnater Vengeance, which is a completely different animal.
120 watts and could run at 60.
Still had that sweet clean tone of the Rebel and it has a very high gain channel that goes brutal and ballistic if you want it.
I still have that head. It was a new demo on clearance for only $600, $1100 new.
I am selling it in the Chicago area if interested.
You'll need a cab. I have a 2x12 with V30's, great combination.

The construction of the Vengeance is excellent.
The internals are robust with great design.
Both the Rebel and Vengeance are super clean at idle and even at high gain with loud volume, something my Fender amps can't seem to match.

Egnater had a bad run of amps with transformer problems.
They got it sorted it out under warranty but it took way too long and a lot of customers were po'd and left the brand.
You can get Egnaters used for a great price and much of that is due to the issues that happened.
Most of the transformer issues with with their Tourmaster 4 channel amp.
The others have been great.

They are lower in cost because they aren't made in the US or Mexico.
But Bruce Egnater designs really nice circuits and amps.

The one major aspect of Fender amps that I prefer over Egnater is the feel.
My Fender amps have great sensitivity and respond great to changes in touch, awesome.
The Egnaters felt a bit stiff in comparison.

Well I bought a tweeker 15 used last year. I really liked it until the transformer burnt up like a lot of them have.
