Please confirm or deny - A local music store salesman claimed to me that the '65 BF Reissue amps (e.g. a Princeton) are supposed to break up sooner than the '68 silverface reissues. I believe that he is misimformed and that the opposite is true. Am I correct or is he? Thanks!

There isn't a '68 SF RI Princeton Reverb, is there? I haven't played on the new '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb. Just on several DRRI. Believe that the pre-amp/gain stage topology is different between the two. Output stage is basically the same --- dunno about output and input trannies being the same.

Correct, the silverface are not reissues, no such thing as a silverface reissue, they are the Vintage Modified Series. The '68 Custom Deluxe Reverb for example, nothing "reissue" about it.

Sorry, guys, poor choice of words. Anyway, which series is "supposed to break up sooner", the '65 BF Reissue or the VMS series. My understanding is that the VMS is supposed to break up sooner, correct? THanks!

you've got '65 vintage reissue series (black face) & you've got '68 custom vintage modified series (silver face) & you're right. The salesman is wrong. & yes there is a '68 custom Princeton reverb

Why is anyone working in a music store that knows didly squat about the products they sell? That always amazes me, I know it shouldn't but it does. If your not striving to be an expert at your job (no matter what it is), you are wasting EVERYONE's Time.

+1000, Not trying to Highjack your post but I was trying out the New BF Princeton Reverb and asked some questions about the new 68 SF Princeton Reverb as they did not have one for me to compare, by the way the BF is kind of sweet, and every question he went on line to get the answer, thought to myself why is he working here I could look it up myself i guess.
