Hi everyone, I recently bought a brand new fender deluxe reverb '65.

When i'm playing in the vibrato channel and I put my reverb above 6, and i play something, I hear a buzz and it's get louder and louder, until it get so loud i've to put my reverb off.

Went back to the store where I bought it, and the guy said that's it's normal with new fender deluxe reverb amps, because they have other spring reverb tanks in it. He said he's got one too and it's four years old and he does the exact same thing.

But i can't believe it is this way, what do you guys think?

Thanks.

Seems likely. First try V3, which is a 12AT7, replace with a known good tube. If the buzz still persists, try V4, a 12AX7.

Is it a buzz or a hum?

Check and see if the Reverb tubes are OK..

I had a similar thing with my Super Reverb, it had a crazy hum that developed like crazy when you got the reverb higher than 2.

I took the reverb pan out of the cabinet and out of the leather pouch to see if it was broken or something, and the metal pan had stuck itself on a little pin! ( not good )

Look at this pic here.. See the hole under the springs? You do NOT want that.. That little pin should be dead-center in that hole.

It sounds more like it's feed backing by the description.

Loosy-goosy reverb tanks can feedback, too. Esp if they are not well isolated from the cab.

Good luck! :D

Hi everyone, after a long time my amp is finally working as it should. :D

I went back to the store with the amp (Keymusic Herentals @ Belgium)
and told them exactly what the problem is. They told me the same $@!& again as last time "this is normal",
but if you want i could send him back to Fender at Germany and see what's wrong with it, but I think they don't going to change anything .

I said that this was good and when I drove back home I realized that I had no ticket that my amp was gone, after a few weeks to hear nothing, I decided to call and ask for my ticket or where the amplifier was hanging out.

They told me they didn't work with a proof or a ticket and they couldn't tell me where my amp was right now. after 13 weeks ( yes 13 weeks !!! ) of waiting I finally got a message that my amp was back and I could come pick him up.

When I got home I saw that my protective sleeve light was damaged and a dent in the iron plate below the volume knob, but I was so sick of all that bullshit with that shop and the arrogant shopkeeper that I didn't call to the crap store again. so I thought the amplifier was made, but nope still the same !!!
I was so angry at that moment.

So I did some research on my own and saw that some people use foam.

So what I have done:

the reverb tank removed from the reverb bag, cut an cardboard the size of the reverb tank and glued to the open side of the tank. on the outside of the tank, I put a foam glued to the bottom and then put everything back into the reverb tank bag. and on top of the reverb tank bag I also laid some foam and tied it up with two rubber bands. and I think the last does the trick. because if I take this foam off that high-pitching sound comes back. And now I can run my reverb completely open without any problem and i love it!

I'm super happy, but I will never buy anything from this store, what a crap service and shopkeeper!

Thank you everyone for the reactions

That is one awful experience with your dealer.
It sounds like whatever Fender repair they sent it to didn't really happen because any reputable repair tech should have been able to diagnose and fix the issue.

As for your own repair, great job!
I too experimented with foam and better isolating the reverb tank from external vibes and the reverb sounds much better and it's quieter. I did it while I was trying to figure out why I had a "ticking" noise coming from my amp that went up in volume when I turned the reverb up and it was happening on both of my new Fender amps the 68 CDR and 68 CVR.
In my case the ticking problem was due to my neighbors electric fence he put up to keep his horses on his land.

The reverb tanks in both of my Fender amps are poorly isolated.
For pete's sake they put the reverb unit on a piece of plain old cardboard and stuff it into a thin vinyl bag and hook it up with really cheap RCA cables, and all that cheapness in a $1050 and $1200 amp.
Oh, and let's not mention the worlds cheapest footswitches they include with these amps.
My 68 CVR came with a footswitch that didn't even have the cheap coffee can cover on the bottom. :)
C'mon Fender!
