I ordered a Maxon OD 820 Pro after watching a video of shane(intheblues) playing one through his DRRI. Sounded awesome and he highly recommended this pedal as Best od! Back order but I'll wait. Anybody have one?

Guess that shows how popular the Maxon OD 820 Pro is with owners of the DRRI. I've never used that pedal. I have used Tube Screamers, HotBoxes, and other OD pedals with both DRRI's and DR's. Amp usually goes well with just about any pedal, at least compatibility and end result tone.

:D

My all time favorite will remain the Cmatmods Signa Drive
I've tried many and the Signa Drive stays !
The three clipping types available makes it about as versatile as anything out there, The build quality is amazing and the price, well its less than a lot of others I have let go ! 8)

My pedal arrived today and although I only had a short time to try it out, I can honestly say it is the best od pedal for me! I've had a few and this one is the king! With the 65 DRRI it sounds fantastic!

Ibanez Tube Screamer 9, T-Rex Alberta II and EHX Big Muff Pi Deluxe do the job for me :) You can get pretty similar sounds from the Alberta and TS-9, but they all sound awesome with DRRI. Might want to check these some day ;)

What is the "best" OD pedal is the one you like. :)
IMO there really isn't a "best" OD pedal, though there are some that are more popular than others.
There are so many different OD pedals with a wide variety of voicings and gain ranges that a "best" isn't possible to answer.

I used to be a non pedal player until about a year ago when I got into Fender amps and now I have 3 OD pedals that give me what I like.
Fulltone Fulldrive 2
Bogner Ecstasy Red
Wampler Triple Wreck
Current amps are Fender 68 CDR and 68 CVR and they love these pedals too. :)
My big amp is an Egnater Vengeance that has it's own built in clean and high gain channels and it too loves these pedals in it's clean channel.
But they sound best in the Fender amps as the Fender amps tone is more to my liking.
The DRRI is similar to the 68 CDR's vintage channel.
On my CDR and CVR I tend to use the custom bassman tone channel about 90% of the time.

With those 3 pedals I have a very wide range of gain, boost, distortion, eq and voicing from lightly dirty gritty blues to full on sustaining saturation.

I'm using an XTS Precision Overdrive with my 68CDR and it works well, nice and warm and fat.
I may try some others too just for variation.

I agree of course, depends on the individual and what you like;what you`re after.First impressions are usually on the money for me. Your ears just don`t lie. All i`m saying is right out of the box this thing is awesome! I have several OD`s and THIS one is great for me! As much as everything costs it Sure is gratifying when you make a good buy! It just feels good!

So funny, I picked up a cheap Bad Monkey the other day, only bought it due to the fact that it was a rare made in the USA model.
The wife says "you have owned several of those haven't you ?"

Yep, probably three or more LOL ,
yet somehow this one just sounds so good through my DRRI ! gets the Tab Benoit sound down to perfection, gritty swampy sounding OD but I hear my notes perfectly (no mud).
probably the dual tone controls I'm guessing

So add another to my list of sounds great through my drri ((( Bad Monkey )))
Does the USA model sound different than the Chinese made one ??? doubt it 8)

I have a 68 Custom DR and I much prefer fuzz pedals for drive vs. distortion/OD. Right now I'm using a Dunlop Hendrix mini fuzz face - sounds great!
