I purchased a new 65 Twin Reverb and am wondering whether the white noise I hear is acceptable. It's just noticeable when the volume is at 2, then obviously gets louder when increased. Turning down the treble, middle, and bass seems to slightly reduce the noise, but it never completely goes away. It will worsen slightly when engaging reverb. I would describe it as a light hiss with a little bit of buzz.

- I've heard worse in other amps, but how much should I tolerate?
- Will purchasing a power conditioner help?
- Could something be wrong with my amp?

Many thanks in advance.

You must do your test with no guitar plugged.
How can we talk about noise without hearing your amp ?

Many of those new amp are noisy . Is it amp design ? Some time new tube(s) help.
What did the store / salesman said ?

Thanks for the reply. It is the 65 Twin Reverb with black face. I'll see if I can capture it on video tonight when I get home and post a link. I've done troubleshooting removing my guitar and pedals. The noise stays consistent, maybe a little worse when the amp has nothing plugged into it. Don't get me wrong here, the white noise isn't bad. I'm probably just being picky. The noise was a lot worse at first when reverb engaged. I replaced the RCA cable to the reverb tank with a higher quality cable to fix it up quite a bit.

Thanks for the replies. I brought it back to the dealer and they're replacing the amp. I believe the cause of the issue was the normal channel volume pot. I noticed that the buzz was much louder when my hand was on the knob. Cheers!

Dealer give you a new amp right now ? It 's a very great dealer .

Volume pot ? ,More a ground issue , or tube issue than a pot IMO

How is the noise with this new amp ?
