I guess what i don't understand is why Fender does'nt offer point to point circuits......but not as high a price point as one of their custom models.
Surely with low foreign wages, an option for an amp constructed that way seems like it could be had for just a few hundred more dollars.

P to P = $$$

P to P need workers hands + knowledge for less amps at the end of the day .

Printed circuit are built by robots, it cost almost nothing to Fender and the amp cost you lots of money at store ...

1 cents at building plant = many dollars at store

True that all, but i still dont think its too much a pipe dream (especially all the online ordering....no brick & mortar), to make a profit AND offer P-P for a reasonable price option.
I would think a production line of semi skilled cheap labor could pull off production line P-P in a couple hours/unit max..

We could say that about many many things we bought . If not all .

Seems the only way to have a decent fender amp these days is to build one of the clones available. It may not say fender but it is a lot more fender than most of what FMIC offers. For me, Fender is the genius of Leo and his collaborators. FMIC is a brand with the Fender name. I never thought to get into electrical work but, knowing it will take those skills to keep a fresh supply of quality Leo designed amps in our hands I am slowly educating myself. Let the deep pockets have the originals. Complete with Utah speakers.

Or don't be afraid to put the money for a good amp .

Everybody know that a blackface 1968 Deluxe reverb is a great amp . This amp cost $400 in 1968 . I have the Fender Catalog .
Today this $400 worth $2,640 in 2013 money .

Put this money or a bit less and you'll have a good amp like the blackface amps was.

Bought a SF Super Reverb in 1972 for 300.00 new from Sam Ash. Got stolen but it was a great amp.

Rather buy a Victoria amp than a new FMIC amp. My new FMIC amps work but, they are just reliable, not remarkable. Reliable so far. Victoria offers a lifetime warranty. They are amps are meant to be owned for life. FMIC still makes good guitars, IMO.

I have seen just about every amp come up on these forums where someone has encountered a technical problem with them. This can easily be expected with anything that is mass produced.. there are numerous good ones and occasionally a few bad ones that make it through the production. Both of my Hot Rod Series amps with speaker upgrades have been very reliable stellar performers providing sumptuous tone for the music that I play and the single coil guitars that I use to play through them. Utilizing modern technology to mass-produce something doesn't necessarily mean you will be sacrificing great tone

But for servicibility i'll take ptp circuit any day.
I've got the spec edition wine drri which has tone for days and have experienced no issues.
Alternatively, i've got a 93 American Blues Deville 212 which was better to gut and go ptp, rather than keep fixing the poor traces and ribbon wire. Maybe the Devilles are assembled better nowadays.
