I barely played it. Only had it for a few months. I never played it at high volumes. I never gigged with it. Treated it very gently. One day, I turned it on and it came on, but no sound came out. I started turning my dials, and I heard bacon start frying. The entire board fried on my brand new $1300 amp after a few months of light play through it. It's under warranty, but it's been over a month now that it's been being repaired. I'm pretty pissed off over this!

Yes, it sizzled and smoked and then the amp completely shut down.

The tubes were working until the board fried, and then everything powered down, but I don't have a full diagnosis yet. Fender's repair guy in my area has had it over a month.

Did your amp need a complete new board ? Or just a fix ?

I can see something fail, it happens.
Thanks for the warranty repair, that's good.

But over a month in the shop?
That I can't understand. It implies there is no Mfg. support for this item. Is it obsolete already? No parts.
Fender should just send you a new one, in-the-box, as replacement.

IMO ,it could take many many weeks for a new board , shipping +installation

Fender should just send you a new one, in-the-box, as replacement.
+1

I agree that something like this should have been on Fender to ship me a brand new one. The repair guy told me he wouldn't be able to get to it for 2 weeks. My bass player told me he's taken stuff to him for repair before and said expect 8 weeks, but that he does excellent work.

I guess what i don't understand is why Fender does'nt offer point to point circuits......but not as high a price point as one of their custom models.
Surely with low foreign wages, an option for an amp constructed that way seems like it could be had for just a few hundred more dollars.

P to P = $$$
P to P need workers hands + knowledge for less amps at the end of the day .

Printed circuit are built by robots, it cost almost nothing to Fender and the amp cost you lots of money at store ...

1 cents at building plant = many dollars at store
