My amp has taken a dump.

It is a Fender Ultimate Chorus non DSP.

It is making a buzzy noise when it comes on.

I took a couple short videos of the amp operating from a cold start.

Thank you in advance.

It is a printed circuit with solid state .

I had this problem on same amp ; broken solder on a filter caps on power supply .

Was very easy to see and fix

I had saw some posts that it could be a loose solder joint on the caps.

I have located a schematic.

I'm looking into what I need to do to keep from getting zapped by the capacitor filters now.

To discharge capacitors ? Use 1 K or more résistor . connect one end to amp ground , other end on filter cap , leave it there few second ( 10 or more ) at each cap.

Amp unplug from wall outlet

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I'd bring this one back to life and ask my question here.

I have an Ultimate Chorus, and I love it. Great amp.

I prefer the built in Chorus effect over a pedal, because the built in effect will actually bounce back and forth from speaker to speaker.

Unfortunately, my Chorus effect has started "popping". To give you an idea of what it sounds like, I'll give an example that everyone can relate to (because we've all done it once or twice I think): The popping is basically the same noise as when you plug a live cord (amp on) into your guitar.

With the Chorus effect turned off, the amp works and sounds as good as ever.

Anyone have any idea what is going on?

In the mean time, I still use the amp with effect shut off, and run my Fender Chorus pedal into it---but just not quite the same.

you may have some or just one bad solder on the printed circuit.

If you have no skill in soldering see a qualified tech

I have a little experience with soldering, but I'm not real "clean" about it. I have a buddy that does it for a living---he has the mesh ribbon to actually soak up the old solder and apply the new, he makes it look like it's easy...so that part's covered.

Resolder around the MN3107 chip.
Look closely at the control shafts. This model is prone to damage by pulling on the knobs too hard.
Gently tug on each knob and look behind the knob at the gap it creates between the threaded section and the shaft.
If one or two pull out further than the rest, it may be a problem.
Turn on the amp and the chorus. Put a signal through it. Pull on the knobs gently to see it there are any that go crazy with a pull

Thanks TimsAudio, I'm more of a "set it and forget it" guy, so I KNOW I haven't been pulling on the knobs...but I will check this any way---never know.
