Hey guys I bought a 68 custom deluxe reverb from ky music about 4 or 5 months ago. I noticed since I bought it that one of the 3 power tubes rattles when I play at volumes past 3. I know for a fact what tube it is because when I hit a note then reach down and touch the rattling tube it stops. I checked the 2 screws holding it in everything seems tight and in place. Any suggestions?

Assuming its one of the 2 power tubes and not the rectifier(first tube on the left viewed from the back) it sounds like it's time for a new set of matched power tubes and a re-bias.
I like the Tung Sol RIs for new production stuff.

Or, if you buy one GT/JJ 6V6-S(same as the stock tubes) with the same "matching" number as the one you're replacing(the ones in my '68 CDR are #7's), I suppose you could get by with buying just a one tube and not re-biasing.

I would recommend the first option.

If you are looking at the back of the amp it is the first power tube on the right, closest to the preamp tubes. Also it's a brand new amp it has a 5 year factory warranty and the tubes have a one year warranty. So any replacement or biasing should be free I hope?? I bought it new from a fender certified dealer.

That would be a power tube. Should be covered by warranty.
I didn't mention the Warranty approach as the closest one to me is 90 miles away and like a Black Hole-your amp goes in and never comes out....

I hear ya man, I appreciate the help. I'm going to give that a try and see if it works. I have read a few forums about the issue one guy replaced his tubes didn't fix the problem and had to resort to using tube dampers.

That ring this is not holding it snug enough? maybe squeeze them in more with the tube out and put the tube back in it might work.

Swap the 2 power tubes around. If the tube still rattles in its new position, its probably the tube itself.
