Just looking for tips on dealing with tube rattle; generally, and any tips related specifically to the '59 Bassman Reissue LTD model would be appreciated too.

I'm having some very slight, intermittent rattling. Not enough to pay a tech to look it over necessarily, but certainly enough to ruin some otherwise excellent takes on recent home recordings, lol. It's like it knows it's being recorded.

I had a Peavey Classic 30 once upon a time with notoriously bad tube rattle issues, so I installed a Tube Tamer - but I haven't seen any aftermarket products like that for the Bassman.

So yeah, how do you folks battle the rattle?

Actually it's a JJ's tube; they all are. Got the re-tube kit about a month ago. The problem started before that, but is actually a little better now.

Try putting some 1/8" i.d. rubber O rings between the chassis and the tube socket, you'd need to remove the screws. Maybe it already has them. I've seen plenty of new prod. tubes that just rattle, no matter what you do.

Check the tube retainers first, one or more could be loose or broken. Also, make sure that all hardware is tight, chassis screws, baffle screws, speaker nuts/screws, etc. If it is a tube(s), these tube damper rings work well. I use them now in some of my amps as a preventative measure. I prefer the white ones, based solely on looks.

When tightening things, don't over tighten the speakers. You could end up bending the frame and have all sorts of problems. Tube dampers can help. Sometimes if you play a note and touch the tube with a chopstick, it may stop rattling. If it does, it would be an offending tube. Sometimes switching positions of like tubes can help too. I had that happen with a preamp tube.
