Hello, I've got a Hot Rod Deluxe that I've had about 10 months that I purchased new. I play the amp almost daily. Yesterday I noticed that the reverb was really weak sounding. I usually set it between 2 and 3 which was more than enough for me. Now I have to turn it to at least 6 or 7 to get the same effect. Does anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
Thanks

Hi mtown,

Have you moved the amp, possibly a shock that could have damaged the tank?

Did you maybe switch to input 2?

It seems odd that you turn it up to twice the previous level, yet it still sounds good?

No, the amp hasn't been moved or jostled in any way. Today I removed the tank and checked all connections. I didn't see any wires loose or poorly connected. I then reinstalled the tank and then it started working again. It will probably happen again but next time I'll take it to a Fender authorized tech under warranty.

If you've been playing daily it's posible that one of the reverb connections was loose and the speaker vibrations caused it loosen even more. If a reseat of the connectors fixed it, you should be ok. It would be good to also reseat the reverb driver tube, v3, just to be on the safe side. But only if you are comfortable doing that. It's possible to misalign the tube pins when reinserting and cause damage to the tube pins.

Peace.

V3 is the phase-inverter (PI), not a reverb driver. The reverb in this amp is driven and recovered by an op-amp, not a tube.
