Hello all. I just bought a fender champion 40. I'm very happy with it but... The clean channel has a underlying distortion on the clean channel when i play the lower strings (e, a). I,'ve a fender modern player tele thinline, and i tested with a Washburn N2. The distortion persists. Its very small, but its there. :) i dont know if its from the natural sound of amp, or were the transport guys who were carring it without care. I could use some light on this issue before sending it back to the shop and the new one is the same. Thank you. And sorry about my english :) best wishes.

Hi,

I have a Champion 100 and in low tones, high volumes, the amp vibrates a lot and, certainly, this produces some distortion. I don't know if that's your case. Yeah, we've not spent a lot of money with our amps, but amps such as roland's cubes do not vibrate that way!

Regards.

t.

Yes. it vibrates and perhaps thats whats causing the distortion. Should i take it back for an exchange? Thank you. This is making me go mad. :P

Well, I'm not an expert nor a Fender technician. My Champion 100 has some "resonant" sounds and technicians suggested that some loose parts can be inside the amp. I'm very happy with champion clean channel, except for that issue at reasonable high volumes. You could connect headphones. In my case, I barely hear any resonance through them. So: do you hear these distortions with your headphones??

Regards.

Bring it back and get a new one. It shouldn't be distorting at all on the clean channel.

Surely you just switch to the gain channel, or am I missing something in your question? There's a selection of amp models with various possibilities of distortion levels via the gain knob. There's even a Metal amp model.
