Hey All! New to this forum, I figured I'd reach out with a question. I just bought a 68 Twin Reverb Reissue "used" from a music store but it was just a floor model so not extensive play at all. It looks brand new. It was shipped and I received it yesterday. When I plugged into it it sounded absolutely amazing tone wise. Just what I expected from a Twin not having really played one before. Only thing is that the volume wasn't as loud as I guess I expected from the hype that you hear from "A Twin". Granted, I was only finger picking quietly as to not wake up a baby, and maybe the attack dynamics on these new re-issues is much more drastic. Has anyone else with this amp had similar experiences? At first I thought there was a tube issue but as far as I know they're quite new.

Thanks in advance!

You do not have a 68 TRRI. You have either a 65 TRRI or a 68 Custom Twin Reverb. If it is the former, it has "Blackface" cosmetics. If it is the latter it has "Silverface" cosmetics (chrome panel with blue writing).

Ok Thanks. It's a 68 Custom Silverface.

Yes, the '68 CTR is one of the "Vintage Modified Series" amps, not a reissue, and as such will not have the same clean powerful sound of the originals or '65 RIs. Part of the "modified" aspect of these amps includes circuit changes to achieve earlier breakup.

I have the 68 twin it get loud at 4 to 5 and sounds great, shouldnt be any different in volume then the RI IMO! are you using pedals in the vintage channel for dirt like me? or just a clean player? the floor should shake when cranking if not maybe a weak preamp tube?
