Hey there, I recently left my amp on, out of standby mode accidently for at least 24 hours. (5150 III 100W) When I returned to play it, it sounded "fatter" but not in a desirable way to me. I also started to notice that the effects I had been using in the 4 cable method seemed to be non existant as if I was plugged straight into the amp. I am guessing it is a tube issue, and tried switching out the preamp tubes with ones I saved after retubing it, and no notable difference. Am I barking up the right tree? Which tubes should I look to first??

Thanks!!!
Stoneyboy

You could take a look at your power tubes.

Yes, power tubes or more than one preamp tube

I tried switching the power tubes around, same tubes but different spots. No notable difference.

I realize it could be more than one tube, but I was hoping I would get some sort of result that would re enforce my suspicion of tubes before I spend the $$ on a new set.

If few tubes are worn out , it is useless. You must try new good tubes.

Better to see a qualified tech , ask around you , not so many are qualified
