My CVR has a reverb problem. I had all of the J. Fromel mods. done a few years ago and it has acted with no buzzing or any noise. Now, the reverb tank has to be moved out of the amp and placed about two feet away for the reverb not to buzz. I have checked out all of the tubes. The tank has no broken springs or any outward physical damage. It is not a big deal to move the Accutronics out of the amp, but of course I would rather not. Since the cables were fine all along, I do not suspect those. NOTE: This amp is an old CVR, and not to be confused for the newer '68 Silverface CVR. Thank You!

How did you "check" the tubes? Really, the only sure way to know if the tube is a problem is to substitute a known good tube. Most tube testers don't check for noise, and visual inspection of a tube means nothing as far as function. There are two tubes for the reverb, the driver V3 (12AT7), and the recovery V4 (12AX7). If you used the CC resistors in the Fromel mod, those can be a source of noise also. Do yourself and your amp a favor and ditch the CC, and use some flame-proof. CC are notorious for noise, and they can catch fire when they blow. There is no tonal mojo with CC, that is all that Leo had available back then, and this is probably what has led to the myth that he used them for tone, not true at all.

Is the blackface version called a "custom vibrolux reverb" or simply "vibrolux reverb"?
I thought the new silver face '68 is the "custom" model, no?

The "Custom" Vibrolux Reverb he means is this amp, and yes it is called the "Custom" Vibrolux Reverb, has been since the '90s.

'68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb is the recent silverface vintage modified series. The "68" denoting the newer amp.
