what about the celestion A-type?video on youtube sounds great! Or mixing a swamp thang and another eminence?
Moved back to the 2x12 cab. Ordered it today. I will try the 4 ohm cab but suspect I may need two 16 ohm speakers(wired in parallel) for 8 ohms cab.

One of my favorite combo cabs was a 2x12 that I used for years with my Bassman and Bandmaster reverb heads had a swamp thang and a tonker in it.
That closed back fender piggyback cab had an excellent tone and man could it get loud !!!

Thanks for all the help! I ended up getting a 2x12 cab and using the Heritage G12H greenbacks that I had in storage. If I get a 1x12 cab later I'll try the Swamp Thang.

I'm in the process of building a 1x12 right now so i can audition other speakers without pulling my DRRI apart, still completely happy with the swamp thang by the way
One Eminence I've never tried or heard in person is the Red White & Blues.
I also have a tube tweaked VHT Special 6 head that I only have a 2x12 or a 1x10 cab for so the 1x12 will serve double duty.

I looked through all three pages and found no mention of Weber. I have a handful of Eminence speakers and two Weber's. A Sig 8s and a recently purchased personal order 10A150H. A Jensen C10N style speaker with an alnico magnet and a hemp cone. After breaking it in, it is a breathtaking speaker. I have never heard better articulation and tone in a speaker. Being able to pick my cone type, ohmage, wattage and basket color was key to me getting a speaker that works for me. Eminence makes very good speakers, Weber makes great ones, IMO. I think the articulation may actually make Weber speakers a little scary. This speaker makes the three Tele settings complete different aural worlds to explore. Each setting has tonal spectrum I never heard before.

Anyway, happy you found your speaker. :D

Het Chet ! Long time no see my friend
I had a Scumback in that JTM45 clone made by Dirty Girl Amplification a while back and it had a killer sound for sure.
The DRRI is such an excellent platform and there are so many flavors of speakers these days, you could go on and on !

I've heard Scumbacks against Webers. These are for different players. Viva la difference. Such a rich array of speaker possibilities these days and I love it. I like certain speakers for my joyful noise making but, love to hear the tones other players come up with. Scumbacks sound like they can cut through anything. There is something unique to their tone that might find less interference with other instrumental sounds. I could be making that up too.

I love exploring speakers.

Yeah Man. If I ever do another Weber, I may use their "break-in" service. Mine sounded great out of the box, but gets way, way better over time as it breaks in. Pretty much goes for any speaker. The 18 watt Marshall clone kit I ordered comes with a Celestion Greenback. The part that bothers me is it's mane in China. What's up with that?

LOL. My speaker sounded like the box it came in at first. Hemp can be a tough break in. 30 hours of break in music from my puter, with the last 6 hours just below distortion threshold, it is speaker I'm loving now. There is more breaking in to do but, it is a fun job and very rewarding.

Dang Chet !!!
You always have some sweet custom goodies !
Did you use two 16ohm in parallel to get to 8 ohms ?
I'll bet that is the loudest DRRI ever !!!

Thanks. Yes it has 2 16ohm Scumbacks in it. In the room that it's in I can only turn it up to about 3 1/2 or 4 before it gets too loud!!
