I have had a Red Knob The Twin since 1989 and love it. I am looking to buy a new amp and wonder if anyone has played something that has similar qualities of tone and clean/dirty channels? Thank you in advance for suggestions.

If you mean Fender, the closest that I can think of is a SS Twin, which isn't made anymore (maybe find a used one in good shape), so that leaves a SS 60 head and 2x12 cab.

The twin~amp used
Or the 1x12 VM used.
Both have the same sound. I have had all 3 amps at diff times
Fender might still make the 2 channel VM not sure tho.
I would find a Twin~Amp circa 2005ish

Thank you for the suggestions! I will look at all...doesn't have to be a Fender either if there are other potential substitutes. I asked in another thread and was also reminded that there are plenty of used Red Knobs out there to buy. Agreed. Problem is that parts are getting scarcer and there are fewer people who know how to work on them, at least in my area.

On a slightly related topic, the reason I am looking now is that I am having problems with my 1989 Red Knob and it will take weeks/months before it can get repaired. I was told by someone that I might have created some of the problems by using a THD hot plate. Love the way it sounds when using the hot plate, gain at 7 and master at 5-7!

Thank you again for the suggestions.
