would two 8 ohm speakers wired in series(in 2speaker cab)for a load of 16ohms be a safe mismatch for the 8ohm required load on the Deluxe Reverb reissue head?

Yes. Actually, anything from 4 ohms to 16 ohms is perfectly fine. Keep any mismatch within a 2 to 1 ratio, high or low. You might notice some volume loss with a mismatch, but sometimes the sound will be more pleasing. A matched impedance is to get the most power from the amp.

Thanks. I thought yes but want to be safe with my new amp. Always unsure of mismatches. Choosing a speaker cab for this amp is a good problem!
