Ok, so I just picked up a CVR and was ready to be blown away with all of the tone I was about to experience...but the only thing that blew me away was all of the hiss and noise coming out of it!!! I mean, ok, I read all of the forums about how it was hissy/noisy/etc but I was unprepared for what was coming out of those wonderful Alnico speakers...wow.

As a test, I have a Deville 410 and a Hot Rod Deluxe Limited Edition. I fired up all three amps to compare...I was shocked at how poorly the CVR did against those amps.

I had three people (2 guitar players, 1 non musician) come down and take a test listen (eyes closed!)..in all cases the Deville 410 won, then the HRD, and in last the poor little CVR...

I really wanted to love the amp as it is a perfect size and wattage, with great sounding vibrato...the drawbacks on the amp for me are:

1. HISS (I know it has been said a thousand times...but man is it distracting)
2. Reverb...weak and dark...especially compared to the Deville and HRD.
3. Humbucker guitar (Les Paul) broke up way to soon (although with my Strat and Tele the break up was nice...)

Anyways...I am going to look into getting that NFB loop mod done or just dumping it all together...if anyone has any insights to this it would be appreciate it...I want to love this amp...but through the sea of hiss and noise it is just not enjoyable to play through (sigh)...

its really hard to beat the 4x10 fender sound.

I have the Blues Deville and have owned an HR Deville and twins and blues jr's and ect.....

and I just have yet to find an equal to the Deville's tone

I also find the reverb very musical on it.

I am coming to that realization! I was hoping to get away with carrying a smaller amp...but it looks like I will be carting around the 410! I was just down in the basement falling back in love with the Deville...American Standard Stratocaster...doesn't get much better! =)Now only if that CVR didn't have all that noise...ok, I got to let that go I know...

it is a beast for sure !!! but man what tonal possibilities.

I use a route 66 pedal and crank up the compression side for added sustain and clean boost and she just sings.

The overdrive side of the rote 66 with my neck pup matches the old Clapton sound like nothing I have ever used.

I never use the overdrive on the amp itself, just dosent do much for me.

iam young yet old school

Well to dime a 60 watt Deville you better be in a big open place or outside or you better have one good pair of hearing protectors.

Dude that thing will hurt you !!!!!
