I picked up an 08 PRRI last week and played it out the weekend. Really liked the the amp except the speaker just didn't do it for me as I felt it farted out to soon, doesn't matter though as I had planned on experimenting with this amp anyway. I plugged it into a cab today with a Weber 12a125a in it and sounded really good, seemed to handle my pedals well. I gave read lots about Copperheads, Legends 1028k, and many others but haven't found anybody the uses the Weber. I'm in Classic Rock, Tom Petty , Bruce Springsteen ect... Any thoughts on this choice, I assume I will need to order a 12" baffle from Mojo? Is the 12" a good way to go?

I'm using a Weber 10A125 in my 1966 blackface era Princeton Reverb. Sounds very good. And you won't need to modify the baffle.

Nice amp, BMW2002Ti! 8) I have a SF with a 50W non-original speaker. I will consider the recommendation, perhaps the 30W. Did you order doping with yours (or suspect it of any real importance?)?

I went a head and modified the baffle, I am a wood worker so I had all the tools. Great upgrade, it sounds so much bigger and 3-D like. Funny thing though, I have a 66 Pro Reverb that I had put 2 Weber 12a125a in a while back and they just never really did it for me in that amp but the one sounds great in the Princeton, maybe their better in a 1 X 12 setup than a 2 X 12. So I have 1 Weber left and I might put it in my 68 Princeton Custom RI. Amps are a gas :D

I also have a PRRI, just last week I was looking for more clean headroom and considered putting in a 12, instead I opted for the Eminence lil buddy, a 10 inch 50w speaker. I play mostly Blues & Jazz, but this thing has a wonderful crunch to it, very natural sounding distortion, I liked it so much I put the larger 12 in my Peavey Classic, an amp I was going to sell and it definitely gave it a new life. If you want more clean, switch out the v1 tube with a 12ay7 or a 5751. Personally, I like to have more clean headroom, if you really want to push it a bit more I've got a blues driver for that.

I'm a pedal guy too. I bought the amp with the intention of putting in a 12" speaker so I'm glad it worked out well. Now I want replace the tubes, it's a 2008 model and tubes are original, thinking of going with JJ's. Tremolo is a little week compared to my 68 CPR, sounds like a few of the other tubes are coming to an end too..

I had a greenback 10, and a 10F150 in mine (back when I had a PRRI). I also added a filter cap and upgraded the OT. In the end, it didn't fart...much. But it's just not a big amp with big iron, and isn't going to sound like one. The PR/PRRI "barks" more than it "roars". Jim Campilongo makes one sound better than anyone I've ever heard.... his secret, Volume on 10. Bass on 10. Treble down to 6-7. Here's the key: you control the amount of gain FROM THE GUITAR'S VOLUME POT. THAT makes all the difference.

FWIW, Campy uses either vintage/reconed Jensen P10Ns or new Celestion G10 Vintages in his stock PR/PRRIs, and also has them rebiased QUITE hot. (all this info is listed on Campy's page, check it out.)
