Here's a simple project I put together today, a footswitch to switch between the channels/level settings on my Badcat Unleash. I'll post it here as some forum members might like to build it to use with their Blues Junior Fat switch On/Off, for instance. I use the separate volume function of the Unleash to give a volume lift for soloing, so I included an LED (ON = when on the higher volume) to make it easy to know which channel/volume setting I was on.

I had these parts hanging around my workbench so I actually used a 3PDT switch just because I had it handy, bit of a waste really but it's what I had, a 2PDT would be the go for this if you had to buy one. I figure the parts would be about $15 max and be as good or better than a footswitch you'd buy (probably wouldn't have On/Off LED), it would actually make a good project for a beginner pedal builder and will work with other amps like a Blues Junior, for the Fat Switch In/Out. Just connect it up to the amp using any instrument or speaker cable.

I used a 10k resistor for the LED and it is still reasonably bright, you could experiment and maybe even go a bit higher, but as it is the battery should last forever and a day.

I think you can pretty much see how I wired it up from the guts pic, two separate circuits, one for the Unleash switching (or Blues Junior fat switch on/off) and another for the LED, switching On or Off together. The LED is powered by the battery in it's own circuit through the switch, resister and battery. The Fat switch on a BJr sees the switch open/closed through the jack, same as a single button footswitch with no LED, but in this case you get the LED as well.

Anyway I thought this may be of interest to some other forum members who might like to have a crack at building one.

Nice job .

You can also put a DC battery jack like effect pedal and use the same DC power supply . This will save the battery.

The parts were $13 shipped from Mammoth. Will let you know if it works on a Blues Jr.

$13, sounds like a bargain.

It should work perfectly for the BJr Fat switch. Not sure if you know about connecting LED's but I'll say it just in case, they have a polarity, the longer lead is the Anode (+) and should be connected to the Positive lead off the battery (thru the switch and the resistor).

Thanks for the tip. I remembered that they had a polarity but hadn't sorted out what to do with that info.

One could add a looper, I think.... Set up a fat channel and a skinny one....

Didn't have the space for the switchcraft jack so I put a grommet in and wired up a cable. (Actually I had space but every time I'd plug the cable in it would short which was a problem.) Anyways, makes this cheaper as the grommets, wire and plug was way cheaper than a jack and guitar cable.

I'm going to do this again with a double sized case and put in two loops. One for fat on and one for fat off. Wire them off a 4pdt switch and I should be good.
