Not a problem connecting another cab. The amp has an external speaker jack, and I'm certain that Fender considered that someone might actually use the jack.

The "recommended minimum impedance" is to get the full rated power from the amp. Higher or lower impedance will not allow full "clean" power from the amp.

I love fender reverb and this amp for me is basically giving me 2 usable channels, the tweedy tone I love as well as what I really wanted which is the whole silverface/blackface kinda vibe but with the bonus of the reverb on both the channels

This is a widespread misconception of the 68 Custom series of amplifiers. Fender did a disservice by calling the custom channel a Bassman tone stack because it's actually identical to the tone stack of the blackface Super Reverb, but only kind of the tone circuit from a single version of a blonde Bassman from the early 60's (the Normal channel of the 6G6 Bassman, minus the tapped treble pot.) In short, the custom channel is NOT a tweed circuit like many have been led to believe.

Fender would be more accurate calling the Custom channel of these amplifiers a Super Reverb tone stack but for whatever reason, likely a marketing strategy aimed to convince people they're getting a blackface AND a tweed amp, that Fender decided to call it a Bassman tone stack. Not that it matters a whole lot. If people like what they hear, then that's really what matters. It's all just rhetoric at that point.

FWIW, this is a big reason I bought the CVR. I saw it, along with it's Custom channel, to be a logical alternative to hauling my massive Super Reverb around to gigs which the Super was, for the most part, overkill for. I've also always loved the bright & sparkly tonality of Vibrolux's, so the 68 CVR has been a dream come true for me. Contrary to convention, I've also always preferred the faster attack, added high end clarity, and tighter/controlled bass response of 10" speakers compared to 12's. It makes sitting in a live mix with a bassist so much easier not having some of that overly extended low end response that 12's tend to have. It of course always comes down to personal preference but it's no surprise I opted for the CVR.

I also feel the need to mention that I find the stock Ten 30 speakers in the CVR to be surprisingly good sounding. After reading some forums prior to purchasing, I sort of went into it under the impression that I was going to have to swap out the speakers, but the stock ones are staying in as far as I'm concerned. They're also a part of the reason why the CVR weighs the same as the CDR at 41 lbs. Regardless of some opposing claims, I personally think Fender did a fine job selecting Ten 30s as the speakers for the CVR. I'll note that I bought the floor model so the speakers could have had some decent time to break in.
