Thanks Rverb, and congrats on yours too.

The Vibrolux is the only amp I have at the moment, so no comparisons here.

No457 Snowy, sorry, want be any gut shots of mine, I won't open her up unless she really needs it, for things such as bias adjustment and the like.

Relic or Rverb, is there any chance you could scan or post photos of the English pages of the manual? Just interested to know what it says.

I'll try and do that for you.
I don't have a scanner at home so it may have to wait until next week.

But, I can try to use my camera and take picts.
If it works out I can get those to you.

Nope. None of the 'Vintage' style amps do.

Yes there is.
But the attack is still quicker, which I like.
Fender claims that there is sag in the amp by way of something they did to the power transformer. The rectifier is solid state.
Whatever it is they did to the transformer playing the amp feels great.
Still "feels" very much like my CDR that has an actual rectifier tube cause the sensitivity and response is really nice in these new silver faces from the reduced negative feedback.

An effects loop would have been a great addition and I don't get why Fender doesn't include them in these modern amps.
The whole "vintage" thing is fine to a point in terms of tone.
But given that these new "vintage" amps aren't point to point like the actual vintage amps
anyway and the electronics are modern then why not include a very useful modern feature?

Pedals work great anyway, just have to adjust them like the old days. :)

I just received my 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb from GC via UPS delivery today. Ordered it on Saturday, 9-20-14 at GC Boise, ID. It left the Salt Lake City, UT warehouse yesterday morning, 9-22-14, and was delivered to my house in Canyon City, OR at about 11:00AM today, 9-23-14. Now that's service!
With only about three hours playing time on it, I must say that Rverb's review nails it quite nicely! I did not notice the delay in the reverb on my unit as described by Rverb, but I did notice that it is not as rich and lush as on my TRRI and DRRI...yet still very nice. I would not do anything to modify or "improve" it, it's that good.
My biggest issue is with the Celestion speakers. Along with the transformers I think the speaker choice has something to do with the onset of distortion in this amp. I have a 1x12 cab fitted with an Eminence Texas Heat, 150 watt RMS power handling (as I recall), 4 ohm impedance. Plugged in to replace the Celestions, I don't hear the "power tube" breakup on the Eminence as early as I do with the Celestion 2x10" that come in the amp. Also, the 1x12" has a bigger bottom end than the 2x10 configuration and gives more of the classic Fender Twin sound; it's cleaner to a higher volume on the Vol-pot yet gives a VERY nice crunch above about 6 on the knob. Admittedly, the Celestions have not had the break-in period of the Texas Heat, so I'm not planning to do anything drastic...at least not yet. I have used Eminence Ragin' Cajuns in one of the contemporary "Custom Vibrolux" amps (now long gone), and what an improvement! I also put one in a Frontman 25R and really made that one sound great. So, if in time, the Celestions disappoint me, the Ragin' Cajuns are an option I will keep in the back of my mind.
Over all, the new 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb gives me what I was looking for. I wanted the classic, sparkly clean sound of the Twin Reverb in a lighter, lower power amp...though not as low powered as the DRRI. The 68 Custom Vibrolux Reverb fits in between the two, right where I need it. 6L6 Fender clean, 35 watts, at only 42 lbs.

I've got a big dilemma.
My 68 CDR had scratchy pots. It is the 3rd CDR that had problems.
So, I decided to get the 68 CVR and GC gave me a great discount for all my troubles.

I like the CVR very much, but I also like the CDR just not the scratchy pots.
So, I took out some of the pre tubes I had put in the CDR, which sounded fantastic btw.
And now the pots are NO longer scratchy.
The only thing I'm scratching is my head. DOH!@?

I've encountered bad pre's that cause ringing, hum, crackling, distortion, etc..., but never ever had a pre tube cause scratchy pots.
I guess there is a first for everything. I've also never had Fender class A amps either, so I'm not as familiar with them.

My dilemma is that now the CDR is working just fine and sounding great.
Not as good as with the pre's I had in it, but still very nice.
I'm going to do 1 pre tube at a time and see/hear if the scratching comes back in and which tube might be causing it.

But, the problem is that I think I like the tones from the CDR more than the CVR.
The CVR is GREAT, don't let my dilemma dissuade anyone from this great amp.
It's just that I originally picked the CDR when I played it back to back with the DRRI and TRRI and really preferred the CDR.
After playing the two amps more, even though the 2x10's have a nice low end, it's more of a louder mid low end that's not as low as what the single 12 in the CDR can do.
The Celestion in the CDR is a very nice speaker and has a very sizable magnet, whereas the 2x10's are much smaller.

I'm really tempted to keep both but I just can't. I already have 3 other amps and don't need 2 more. :)
I'm going to play the amps more over the weekend and do some tube testing on the CDR.
At this point I'm leaning more towards the CDR.

I still want to do a comparo vid test since I have both amps in my possession, and it should be helpful to some players making their own decisions.
Really hoping I get the time this weekend to do some recording and get it up on YT.

BTW, what happened to the manual that was posted?
Did Fender ask for it to be taken down?
