Hi all,

i've just a question on cabs and amps, as i'm looking to buy a new one in the next days. On the Fender website, if i check the following cabs/amps :

GB Hot Rod Deluxe™ 112 Enclosure (Finger-Joined Solid Pine)
GB Hot Rod Deluxe™ (Finger-Joined Solid Pine)
'65 Deluxe Reverb® (7-Ply 5/8" Birch Plywood)

I' ve a line in spec part, named Cabinet Material in the hardware part. Ok, it's cool, as i'm looking for a baltic birtch extension cabinet 1x12.

But, if i check the following cabs/amps, "cheaper" :

Super Champ™ SC112 Enclosure
Hot Rod Deluxe™ 112 Enclosure
Hot Rod Deluxe™ III

The line disapear. So i suppose Fender hide it because it is bad material, something like MDF or particle board.

Anyone could confirm or tell me the material of theses cabs/amps ?

Thanks.

Cheers from France,
John.

yes you got it. If they're made of cheaper material there's nothing to brag about so they just don't mention it. Fender isn't the only one who does this though. You can pretty much assume a cab is made of MDF for the most part unless stated otherwise.

I got a mail from Fender

"The Hot Rod Deluxe III and 112 enclosure are going to Baltic Birch, and the Super Champ is going to be plywood. Let me know if you have any more questions! "

But they didn't told me why they didn't write it on the web site, it's stupid as they is nothing to hide !

Cheers.

That's good news. I'd be very surprised if they were fibbing. Just a matter of waiting for the newer models I guess. They can't very well state that they're made of birch or plywood until they actually are.

When I had a blues deluxe last year the web site said maple/birch. Fender wrote me and said the sides were birch ply and the rest was MDF. I could tell by looking at in side he was right.

Oh, please, it will be great. Currently the Blues Deluxe is maked as "7-Ply 3/4" Birch/Maple Plywood". The 3/4 means 3 sides/4, it is what it's means ?

It's also a bit surprising, because it share the same enclosure as the Hot rod deluxe !
