Hi, I was wondering if anyone might know if there is any quality or sound difference between the Mexican and USA Fender Blues Deville 212 PR 247? Thanks

Hi luckylucky,

No real difference in the amp, except a couple of hundred miles between build locations. The components and build are identical, with the possible exception of speaker type, which could have changed over the years. The only notable difference came with the introduction of the RoHS solder in about 2005. The RoHS solder doesn't make a difference in sound, but doesn't mix well with "real" solder, and the RoHs solder is harder, takes more heat to melt, and maybe less tolerant of stress. If the proper amount of solder was used during the build, there should be no problems with either type of solder.

Thanks for taking the time to reply its much appreciated; there is a amp for sale within 5 miles of where I live and wasn't sure because it was made in Mexico, I try to buy everything made in USA because people tell me the instruments are more superior and better built quality, but nobody knew much about the amp.

Same here, generally speaking MIA is better, but I have amps and guitars both MIA and MIM.

In the cases of the HRd amps, the build quality and components are identical between the MIA and MIM. In the case of the BJr specifically, the MIM had some improvements over the MIA. I wouldn't get hung up on the MIA for any HRd amps. I would prefer the III to the II though (both MIM), due to some improvements such as thicker circuit boards, circuit revisions, maybe better speakers. The III is easily identifiable by the black face plate, whereas the II and I have the chrome face plate.
