I'm guessing he won't have equipment to actually measure the caps (he may have). I would suspect possible mis-labeling if they were all exactly the same print, but the larger one does have different labeling to the others (the number 12).

But if you have the means to actually measure them that's the best way.

Unfortunately I do not have the means to measure them. I've emailed Tube Depot and will see what they have to say.

I like dealing with the resistors. Easy to measure those.

Thanks, guys!

They said they were fine so I installed them. I am missing a few parts. Hopefully they replace them soon. (I can buy the standoffs myself. The fuse holder I'd rather not pay for myself.)

Thatr's a shame. Mine came with everything. They have really great service and I bet you'll get the parts quickly.

They should be here tomorrow or thursday.

It was okay. My BillM mods arrived so I spent some time installing those into my blues jr. (I didn't install the bias mod. I don't know why. I'll have to take it all apart now.) The cool thing about those mods is the reverb fix. It never had noiseless reverb. Now it does. Amazing.

Between those mods and the vintage 30 I put in there that amp might be more fun than my little H+K.

Back to the tweed. I think I'm going to have this guy make me a cabinet and finish it myself. I'd best order it soon. It has been cold early this year.

No, only 1 tube was supposed to be shock mounted. So, um, whoops.

*drill*

Why do I only have two grommets? !@#!!

 I guess you could always shock mount the second tube as well if it came to that, it won't hurt. Bit of "extra" insurance against microphonics.

Here are the grommets from their website if you wanted more:

They only shock mount tube that's most vulnerable to microphonics. I haven't had a problem with microphonics and I usually crank that thing. The only problem I have with the amp is whenever I plug in, I don't want to stop playing it.

Well the local hardware store had appropriately sized grommets. So V1 and V2 are both shock mounted.

Can't hurt.

22 days plus shipping. And counting since it hasn't actually been shipped yet. By the time I get it it will be too cold to finish it.

In the meantime I can enjoy looking at my finished amp sitting on my desk waiting for a cabinet to put it into. Hoping that day will come.

I really wish I had bought this with the cabinet. I REALLY wish I had bought the complete kit. No bloody waiting.

Well the cabinet finally arrived. I put it together and it sounds great. Now to take it apart and finish the cabinet. The maker of the cab suggested tung oil but I'm not sure how that provides any protection other than against rotting. With soft pine I think I pretty much have to have metal corners.

Does tung oil provide any protection or am I better off staining it (sedona red, probably) and hitting it with poly? Or should I just hit it with tung oil until it is beat up enough that I need to go to tolex?

That's a nece cabinet, congrats. Tung Oil won't provide any protection from everyday wear and tear, but it sure looks nice.
