I would like to know if it's "safe" to plug a Hughes & Kettner Red Box 5 into the extension speaker jack of a Fender Twin 65 Reissue. It is my understanding that the DI box can handle a speaker level signal, but I'm concerned about load. Some things I've read say that you should get a box that provides a dummy load (which this model of box does not), others say that this is fine in my situation because the internal speaker will remain plugged in and the DI box will not contribute a significant enough load to cause any problems.

I'm thinking the latter but I just want to be sure.

Thanks!

Interesting...I know that you could with the old original H&K Red Box, not familiar with the new versions.

I probably could do it with the new Red Box then. Seems that the only thing they have added is some (minimal) speaker/amp simulation type facilities to the new box.

I just don't want to fry anything hooking it up that way.
