Was thinkin about purchasing one of these to maybe install in one of my old cabinets kickin around:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fender-Deluxe-R ... 4182383526

However.....They ALWAYS sell these w/out the optoisolator. Why do they take these out?
How easy is it to replace?

For $75....and a (cheap?) part, seems like one could have a decent amp (given you already have a reverb pan...which i have a few of kickin around)

If you happen to have a shop, or at least a place to do the work, other existing large items, such as cabinet and speaker then you might end up with a decent sounding amp at a reasonable price.

For me, by the time all was said and done and I got the amp built it's likely the cost would be getting close to just buying a used DRRI. I would have to find chassis, transformers, cabinet, speaker, knobs, faceplates, and a slew of small parts (nuts, bolts, wire, solder, cabinet hardware, etc). Then the time involved. It would be as much work, almost, as just building an amp of my own design - why restrict myself to a DRRI circuit when it's not going to save me that much?
