Both have great tones on both channels, Both have on board reverb, channel switching, pedals included, tone controls on both channels. Both come with a 12" speaker. Pretty much everything I need in a small amp.

I have heard the Rivera Clubster Doce has military grade hard ware, and is very reliable, plus it is a little smaller and 12 lbs lighter. I have also heard that the Super Sonic is not quite reliable. So any if you folks out there who have experience with either one or both, please chime in with your opinion.

The two different make speakers in each amp have no bearing as I don't really like either speaker offering, I will probably put in a C-Rex speaker in either one if I buy.

Havent played the Rivera model but..

But Im currently dealing with an issue with my Supersonic 22...(as if you havnt heard enough!)

The problem Im involved in at the mo is a sudden loss of low end sound, then it returns.
the loss is like a sudden loss of everything below ~250 Hz goes and then returns.
Maybe a bad power tube or tone capacitor of solder point....
I have contacted Fender and am currently going through the process of having it checked out.

This sounds kinda bad, but I absolutely love the amp... so Im gonna deal with...
Alot of folks have had problems with these amps but they sound so good when they work Im gonna keep it.

Don't get me wrong though, Fender have kicked out another great amp, but the quality control could/should be better on these.

Id still get the 22, just be careful...and bring a back-up!.. lol.

Or you could save a LOT of money and buy the Mustang III, IV, or V, v2 of course. The Mustang series has a great reputation for quality and reliability plus they have an outstanding model of the Super Sonic amp along with all of the others. I know I'm going to get kicked around by all the tube-only guys here and that's OK. I own the TRRI and DRRI, 2 Mustang III v2 and one Mustang I v2, as well as a Mustang Floor which drives the DRRI and TRRI. Although I haven't done it yet, I could drive the two M III power amps with the M Floor and have a 100 W per channel stereo amp. If you haven't checked out the Mustangs yet, give 'em a try. No harm in trying them before you buy even if your final decision is to go with either of your original candidates.

OK, Retroverbial...go ahead...kick me :)

Rivera amplifiers are known to be made from excellent quality parts and with excellent craftsmanship. I've had a couple and still have one now. In fact it is my number one. It's about 12 years old now (I think) and it has never given me a moment of grief. The only issues I have ever had with it were remedied by replacing tubes. What it has given me instead of grief is gorgeous tone.

When trying to decide if extra money for an amp is worth it I find it beneficial to think of amps in a similar way to acoustic guitars. When you look at acoustic guitars it's pretty easy to see that there is a significant quality bump from the $200 price range to the $450 range. Another bump at about $800 - $1000, another at $2000 - $2500 and another once you get past $4K. You can change those numbers if you want. You can start with $300 and then go $600 and $1200 but you still wind up with a range at around $2500 and another over $4K.
It's kind of like the relationship of power to volume in an amplifier. Double the power for a 3dB increase. Double it again for another 3dB.

I believe this kind of thinking is what is needed when trying to decide if amp X is worth this much more than amp Y. I think it's also why the HR series of amplifiers is so popular. People won't pay to step up to the next bracket.

Just think of how awesome a guitar player you could have been by now if you had only spent the last 10 years practicing instead of obsessing over pickups and roasted maple necks.

I don't like modeling amps. I am a tube amp guy. I have had modeling amps, and I have one now a hybrid Super Champ X2 which out tones any Mustang for my taste in tone and I don't even like the SCX2 very much. Thanks for your suggestion, but modeling amps make me feel impotent Image , and at my age that could be a problem. Image Image

The amount of money spent truthfully is not important to me. I have it for an amp purchase and I will get what I want with it, or just keep it in my bank.

I also have a Hot Rod Deluxe, and truth be told with the mods I made to it, it is my most favored amp I have had in all my guitar playing days.

Below is a list of amps I have owned

Fender
Black Face 50 Bassman,
Black Face Deluxe Reverb,
Silver Face Deluxe Reverb
Silver Face Pro Reverb
Silver Face Twin Reverb
Fender 30 (Rivera era) All tube.

Mesa Boogie
Mark II C+
Strategy 4oo power amp with Quad Preamp
Mark IV
Lonestar Classic

Music Man
50 and hundred watt don't remember the model names.

Peavey
Classic 40 watt
and several hybrid models 50 and hundred watt which names I can't remember including a 200 watt model.

Seymour Duncan hundred watt amp which had these removable preamp modules which let you switch types of Preamp

And others of course.

Of all those amps I have owned my HRD with JJ Tubes and Cannabis Rex Speaker is my all time favorite amp. So expensive is not always a marker in tone truthfully. But it means something in reliability.

Thanks...

No offense intended to anyone on these forums, but opinions are like belly buttons...everyone's got one. And I respect everyone's belly button :)

Tone is personal taste. I know that, but some folks think their opinion is the only way to it should be, sadly this is true. And this is not pointed at anyone on this thread.
