I have a 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb Reissue. WIth the right tubes I have come to like everything about the amp except the Celestion V Type speaker so it is going out the door.

My problem is that I am a player who likes everything in terms of European and American sounds. I have ordered a ASW KTS-70 and next on my list is a Weber 12AF150 or12F150. So one of these will go in the amp and the other into an extension cabinet. I have no plans to play both speakers together.

What should I look for in a portable ext cabinet? I am a hobby player - I play at home and with friends.
Weber makes what appear to be nice cabinets at good prices. For a single 12" speaker they offer 2 sizes: a 13x 13 or a 15 x 15. To what degree does size matter when it comes to 112 ext cabs? What about open back vs closed? I would love to hear any other suggestions as far as 112 ext cabs go.

Then I have to decide which speaker will go in the cab and which one will go in the amp although I think the best place for the weber will be in the amp.
Thanks!

I have two 1-12 open back cabinets 17" wide and 15" high. Mine have EVM12L's in them, which I am going to swap out for Eminence Cannabis Rex hemp cone speakers as soon as I sell the EVM12L's, anyways I suggest the 15"x15" cabinet it gives the speaker a little more breathing room.

Are they open back or closed back cabinets? That also makes a difference.

The cabinet I have my eye on is open backed but I could order a closed back if it was important. Im curious about one more thing:

If I put the weber speaker in the amp and the KTS-70 in the extension cab will I have to unplug the speaker I am not using from the amp when playing?

What will happen if both speakers are plugged in? The amp as you know takes 8ohm speakers.
Thanks!

You can plug both speakers in, no problems. However the Internal speaker should be plugged into the jack that is marked Internal speaker. Of course you can unplug the internal speaker and plug in the extension cab to that jack and no problems will occur. It simply means use that speaker jack first.
