For a long time I have been setting my master volume at maximum on Blues Junior because it sounds MUCH better this way. That forces me to set the input gain very low (at 1 or lower) at band levels. The problem was it makes controlling the volume very touchy.

I finally got around to trying a treble bleed on the Master. It worked great!
Now I have much more fine control of the volume and it still has that crisp open sound. A .047mf cap appears to work best.
With extreme settings (master below 2) you loose some bottom end, but it's not bad.

Mine is not the III version with the sparkle mod (which I think might have been an attempt to counteract this)

Just thought I would share.

Thanks Eddie, I set my BJr the same way as you (Master on full) and what I do is roll the guitar volume back to around 7 or 8 and then I can bring the Amp's "Volume" knob up higher to compensate, seems to works very well and also knocks out any ice pick. I also run a 12ay7 in V1 which allows a lot more usable range on that pre-amp Volume knob. The amp still breaks up at the same overall audible volume but instead of happening at the usual '4-5' on the knob it happens at around 7-8, giving a greater sweep/range of adjustment.
