Hmmm...You need 30 watts, some real bass thump, and decent grab and go ability? My friend, let me introduce you to the Bantam Bass Amp. Find one, replace the crap Yamaha speaker and baffle, throw in your favorite 15 inch speaker, and wail away. Even though they have a cab the size of a Super Reverb, they are fairly light, certainly enough to make it a grab and go, plus you get that beautiful fullness of a good Bassman derived amp along with the goodness that is a tube rectified Fender amp.

T2, Not 30watts, he wants 15 to 20watts according to his 2nd post, hence my suggestion above which would give him 18 watts of 6V6 goodness and Fatter tone (which he says he prefers over Blackface type tone). Oodles of Bass thump in the Tube Depot Deluxe, it has an over-spec'd Deluxe Reverb Output Transformer that holds the low end together solidly with NO flubber even at full tilt. I know Supro has also built one of these, he might chime in with his thoughts on the amp.

DBM, here's your amp, you'll learn heaps and love it like no other, fat tone for days, this build runs at about 18-20 Watts, it has a few nice tweaks on a 5E3 and builds into one of the best sounding amps I've heard and with careful building it'll outlive you and me and certainly ANYTHING Fender will sell you for around $600.

That's a damn nice looking kit, Snowy!

Here's my take on it.

Looks very interesting. Very, very interesting. Thanks for the heads up amigo. Don't know if I am up to building my own amp, But I am thinking on it.

P.S. Watched the video on their website, I was a bricklayer and a stone mason my skills are for larger items that that. I have no soldering skills and very little patience for doing fine intricate projects. Not for me amigo but a nice heads up anyways, Thanks

No harm, no foul Snowy...just trying to give the OP some options. Was thinking he needed a bigger cab and some 6L6's to really get his thump on and didn't see anything about building his own. By the way, that is a nice kit!

Thanks amigo, I looked at pictures of that amp, looks interesting but I already have a Hot Rod Deluxe, and it is my very favorite amp ever bar none, but it is big, heavy and not really what I was looking for in a grab and go. That amp looks interesting though. Thanks for the heads up. I was a bricklayer by trade and I sure can heft almost any combo amp including a twin but what I really want is something the size of a Pro Jr or my Super Champ X2, but all tube. Guitar in one hand and amp in the other sort of idea.

No worries mate, I wasn't sure the kit was a valid suggestion myself, but I just thought I'd throw the idea out there just in case he was that way inclined.

Did you ever do your best masonry work carrying only a mixing hod and a trowel to the job site?

Good guitar tone, like quality brick-laying, is a little more sophisticated than that.
