Day one with brand new '68 Custom Princeton Reverb, and no reverb. None. Nada.

Dang. So I did the basic troubleshooting and determined that RCA plugs are tight at amp and on the tank, and that tubes are seated and tight. Same thing whether foot switch is plugged in or not.

Definitely heading to authorized FMIC service center; there are two in my area.

While I'm waiting, I just read the long thread about reverb problems and differences in output level for reverbs in the '68 Custom Deluxe. viewtopic.php?f=13&t=95022

Can anyone with a Princeton tell me if the reverb is weaker on this amp than on '65 PRRI by design? Just want to know what to expect when it's repaired.

Anyone else sorta bothered by this: another new amp in a new series having this kind of QC seems like the bad old CBS days, not the good 'ol Global FMIC. I must have been naïve to think newer was better.

Do you have access to a '68 Custom PR schematic?

Thanks!

Nope. Don't see schematic on official Fender or unofficial ampwares site. You suspect different values in the reverb circuits?

On the worst day they ever had, the amps from the CBS era were parsecs ahead of what's being sold today in terms of reliability and dependability.

Just take it back, ask your money back and buy something else (not Fender).

Decided to return (amazon). They'll send replacement. I am willing to try another. If that unit is defective, will not try another.
