I have two Princetons, kimac -- a reverb-equipped 1965 (foreground) and a non-verb model from 1980 (at the rear)......

Image

The '65 amp is all original save for the speaker: currently installed is an alnico CTS from a '67 Super Reverb. The '80 amp has been converted to a piggyback configuration and is now driving a pair of 12-inch JBL's in a Showman-sized enclosure.

A nice 6G2 Princeton like yours in original condition is likely worth $1400 at a minimum and having it serviced by a competent tech would pay modest dividends should you decide to sell it. And some preventative maintenance would be imperative if you intend to use it for its intended purpose, whether professionally or merely for personal enjoyment. The 12-watt output is sufficient to light up any quality 10-inch speaker, with sufficient reserve to drive an extension speaker if the amp's impedance requirements are heeded. I would not recommend bastardizing such a historical piece as yours in the manner of my piggyback conversion (nobody's gonna miss a late-model silverface) but a more efficient speaker from WGS, Kendrick, or even Eminence will increase the volume potential substantially. Save the original Oxford 10J4 for "posterity" of course.

6G2 is exactly right & Oxford 10J4, not 1014 (I shd wear my glasses)-'wl shop repl speakers; online specs indicate "fixed bias, nonadjustable"--does that mean I cd pop in a new set of matched 6V6s, plug & play, without any adjustments (as w/current prod models from Fender which claim repl w/properly graded "Groove Tubes" req no bias adjustment)?....thanks, Arjay...........BTW, it's also really LIGHT!!

The Princeton is self-biasing and no adjustment is provided for. Other factors which likely will require attention are the filter can, power-rail resistors, and (possibly) the remaining electrolytic caps used in the bypass and bias-supply circuit -- about $100 total in parts. A full set of new glass will cost a like amount, depending upon how discriminating your taste and how deep your pockets.
