Hi folks,

I'm currently looking for a new amp (solid state) to match with my American Standard Stratocaster which has Custom Shop Fat ’50s pickups.

I like rock, blues, hard-rock... Joe Satriani, David Gilmour, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Jimi Hendrix... :)

My budget is about $1,300.00.

Any suggestions???

thanks for attention 8)

Gus...any particular reason for going SS? Not throwing stones at your choice, just a curious choice with so many great tube amps available.

With your budget you could pick up a nice DRRI and a great distortion pedal and still have some change leftover.

In my city doesn't have support... neither place to buy the valve amplifier.
It´s hard to keep tube amps in my city.
:(

A Mustang IV does a surprisingl nice job as well Much less than budget. A couple Gilmore patches are out there that should sound great through the IV or V on your Strat.

I never met a solid state amp I liked much. I played through many of them over the years. The closest thing to a solid state amp that is for rock is the modeling amps from Fender, Peavey, or Line 6.

I think the IV goes for $500 and the V with cab is $600. Plenty of leftover budget with either one I think.

The IV is a tidy size, tho.

I'll try to check..,
thanks :D

[off topic] where is it the Frontman 212R? Or Champion 100 would be his 'substitute'.

To be honest, for the music you play, this amp is awful .. totally.

The Mustang III, IV, or V will fill your needs nicely.
The M III is a combo amp 100 watts into a 12" Celestion speaker
The M IV is a combo 75 watts per channel stereo amp with 2 12" Celestions
The M V is a head-style amp with 75 watts per stereo channel, taking 2 8 ohm speaker loads.

All have 5 year Fender warranty and tons of support from your fellow Mustang owners :)
All will fit within your budget with enough left over for another Fender guitar!

If you can find a SUNN Stagemaster (2 x 12") it will be fine for the music you play and it handles pedals well too.

Good luck!

If I was going the solid state route, I think I'd check out either the Fender Frontman or the Peavey Special Chorus 212.

I have the 25 watt version of the Frontman 25 and it makes a nice practice amp. Clean tones are pretty nice for under $100.
