Hey guys.

I picked up a BDRI (used) a few months ago and lately I've been getting a fizzy-like crackle especially on the low end. I'm guessing tubes but I'm not sure. The guy who I bought it off (who was more of an artist type and less a musician proper) also tried to sell me a THD hotplate that he used with it which makes me suspect that there was some negligence in considering how hot and long he was running the tubes in the couple of years he owned it. Also, he ran the hotplate through the fx loop which is a bit goofy but I'm hoping not seriously damaging in any way.

Whatch'ya think?

Do the symptoms manifest at lower volume levels?

It seems intermittent. Before I posted it was doing it to the point where I wanted to throw it out the window, but when I just went to check it was hardly doing it at all.
I've generally been playing it at lower volumes, to answer Arjay's question.

The intermittent nature would seem to rule out a speaker issue. While it could very well be a tube heading south, it sounds more like you've got a fractured solder joint somewhere.
