One day, my 1998 Hot Rod Deluxe wouldn't turn on. I replaced the fuse, and it blew again. I swapped the power tubes, nothing new. The guy in this video had the same problem, so I replace the output transformer.

Still broken amp. Any more ideas?

Find a competent amp tech.

Are you serious ?

There is so many thing can make a fuse blow .

Listen Retroverbial advice

Or if you want a easy check , remove all tubes . Try with a good new fuse ; I fuse don't blow , you have one or many tubes short.

If fuse blow , see a qualified tech.

Check all the diodes in the power supply, which includes the C- bias supply and the +/- 16v supply, and also the main B+ supply along with the Big caps in each secondary, also make sure the zeners in the +/- 16 V supply are not shorted. If you find any component bad- that's the problem. With a Fluke meter using the diode checker, and ohm meter I hope you can make the measurements in circuit without having to un-solder anything.

If it powers up ok with the standby switch on (in stby mode), and only blows fuse-turning off the stdby switch, check for broken solder joints with the 5881 pwr tubes and all parts in main B+ supply.

" Remove all tubes . Try with a good new fuse (proper amps). If the fuse doesn't blow, you have one or many tubes shorted out. "

This is the first thing I'd try. Since the output tubes (6L6GC) can pass a lot of current, if shorted, you can pull these first. The smaller signal tubes (12AX7 & 12AT7) usually don't cause the fuse to pop, if shorted.

Love that statement below the YouTube clip. Really, these amps are not that mysterious or complicated. Section-by-section logical sequence of checks catches most culprits. Having a good DVM and knowing how to read a schematic is a must.

Good luck with your amp!

If all you know is to throw parts at it hoping something will work then you are not competent to even be working on the amp. Know your limitations and take it to a service center! The life you save may be your own.
