I purchased a brand new Fender Excelsior Pro in April 2014. I took it home from the store still in the unopened box. It worked fine for about one month, then it just became a pile of fuzz/distortion. I took it to a certified Fender repair shop and the amp was eventually replaced. Not fixed but replaced. I asked what the issue was and the shop said that there was a certain run of Excelsior's that Fender would just replace and not bother fixing if they came in for repair. So I have the replacement and now I'm regretting the purchase all together. The place I bought it from had only a 3 day return policy and I'm very reluctant to take it to any of my gigs. I emailed Fender about seeing if they can help with a refund, etc but have not heard back. Anyway anyone else have a Excelsior completely crap out and get replaced?

I've had my Excelsior for probably 2 years and have followed postings on several forums prior and thru these two years. I have seen very few reports of major failures with these amps.

One thing I did read was that for any Excelsior failures, they were replaced, not repaired as with other Fenders....but reports of such are very few.

I wouldn't worry about it any more than any other amp failing at a gig.

Fender has the best warranty in the business. Hey, you got a new amp. Have faith and gig every night with the replacement.

Bill, actually Victoria Amplifiers have the best warranty in the industry. They carry a Lifetime Warranty. Fender had a one year warranty back in 1966 when I had my Vibrolux Reverb, my Bandmaster and my Twin. The Vibrolux went 25 years before it needed a cap job. The Twin went over thirty my Bandmaster went about eight before I sold it to thin the heard and never saw a shop. These new amps aren't built for the long haul. I didn't have any luck with my HRdlx, so I went with Egnater and now I build my own amps. I still have the Egnater and after almost four years, it's been flawless. A warranty is only good when you don't need it.

Wow! Lifetime on a guitar amp. Commendable.

Yeah, I don't think you can get any more confidence than that. Victoria are the some finest Fender amps on the market.

+1

And tragically, no one in Scottsdale seems to recognize that.

I have been looking at the Victoria Ivy League for a small amp. Has anyone played one of these? My deal brings them as order in and has sold quite a few so I am told. I have been a long time Fender amp player. But I find the new Ec class units out of my range.

I've had the privilege of plugging into a few over the years and never heard a bad one. IMO one of the finest amps on the market.

And built like the proverbial Sherman tank......much like Leo's were.

There is something about a small raunchy tweed amp that just pulls you in!!! And yes quality!! I have been looking at Dr.Z Carmen Ghia and the Z28 and they are pretty nice amps for the bucks they are well built and have lots of Mojo. I have to admit I have been feeling pretty guilty not looking at a Fender for a small low powered amp. If Fender offered Victoria a deal to build on there behave that kept with Victoria Standards at a reasonable price then I probably would not feel so guilty.LOL.

I assuage my "guilt" by collecting and playing vintage Fender amps.

No, the corporation makes little money from me. But it does fortify the mystique of Leo's reputation for designing and building the best damn amps on the planet.
