Well... it's been a week of ownership with my '65 Reissue SR. I'm really glad I got it - I haven't even touched my HR DeVille since. The only thing I'm not happy with (besides the weight) is the speed of the tremolo where there's only 3 speeds - fast, faster and warp speed.

Is there any user friendly way of reducing the trem speed to slow and sexy? I do a lot of '60s soul/R&B covers. The tremolos you hear in a lot of them recordings are much slower than mine - even on '1' on the dial. Fenders were the dominant amp back then - especially in that genre.

I believe C21 and C22 (tied to the plate of V5A) are responsible for establishing the speed range of the tremolo oscillator. Altering their values should slow the tremolo down to a more preferable range.

Curiously, the values used in the re-issue Super Reverb are identical to the original AB763 revision -- perhaps there's another issue in play......bad tube, bad cathode-bypass cap, bad trem roach, incorrect resistor value in the RC network?

On most Fender amps (at least BF and SF models) there are three caps in a row on the circuit board. An 0.02mfd + 0.01mfd + 0.01mfd cap. They are usually ceramic disc caps. Though, I've seen many amps with a polyester 0.02mfd cap (like a Sprague OD).

By changing the arrangement to an 0.02/0.02/0.01, you'll get a slower tremolo speed. By going to 0.02/0.02/0.02 = even slower range.

I believe that they are C20,21, & 22 on your amp's schematic. Can't tell for sure, as the darn type is so small.

You have to enlarge the file size, Steve.

They're C20, C21, and C22. Same values and configuration as the original AB763 (from which the re-issue is derived).

You guys ARE GREAT! Thank You!

According to a premier mag article (maybe guitar player??), they did a '65 SR Reissue against an original '64 SR shootout and did find the differences almost negligible (besides PC board and a few others :>)).

Maybe I'll just get used to it. I've messed with all my amps over the passed 40 years and I really do hope the powers of the universe allow me to leave this one alone.
