Wilywelch...you should certainly feel honored, Arjay don't bring out "The Duke" for just any post.
A guy I jam with has a Peavy tube amp and it sounds pretty dang good, and has been quite reliable over the 10 years he has owned it. Nothing wrong with going with a Peavy especially with the quality problems Fender can't seem to get their arms around and solve.

Maybe Fender should go back to keeping it simple and old school on the Tubes Amps.Leave to experimentation to the solid state department.

Thanks to you all. Arjay, I do feel honored! By the way, have we gone back and forth on another forum concerning Gibson 335's? If so, good to hear from you again.

As you all may or may not know, I e-mailed Fenders customer relations expressing my displeasure with my amp. That was 5 days ago. Nothing back yet. Either someone is pooping their pants, or is blowing off a customer. I honestly don't expect Fender to own up to a marketing and production disaster. Oh well.

I absolutely love my VK100 combo. A perfectly simple design, no bells and whistles, just pure tube tone. Clean is clean, dirty is downright awesome. A total of 7 tubes makes this all happen without issues. I can plug any number of guitars into it, and enjoy the guitar for what I bought it for. Strat sounds like a Strat, 335 sounds like a 335, Taylor sounds good, etc. No, it's not the perfect tube amp, but it's reliable, tweakable, and gets me from point A to point B. Nuff said.......

Negative. I've never owned a 335 and what I know of them might fill a thimble......(maybe).

BTW if you find need of a smaller tube platform for more intimate gigs, take a look at Peavey's Delta 30. Both versions (2 x 10, 1 x 15) are downright tasty.

Thanks Arjay. Sorry to get you mixed up with someone else. Yah, there's quite a few Peaveys that fit the bill, as well as "some" Fenders i.e.-Twin Reverb. I perform almost every weekend with a 12 piece Funk, Soul, R&B group. I try to get that Niles Rodgers tone, if you will. When you get a 4 piece horn section blowing, a loud funky drummer slappin, it's imperative that I have a very clean rhythmic sound and be able to hear it, especially with all of the outdoor events we play during the summer months. The wonderful thing about the VK212, is that it's got a very warm, creamy overdrive for lead solos. A simple switch between channels keeps me in control of things. I thought that the SS Twin would be a equal alternative, but it has been anything but. The dirty channel is fizzy, gritty, fuzzy, etc.. I have tried to tweak settings and get nothing I like from the amp. Of course, the amp has to be out of the shop in order for me to use it, and since day one, it's been on the bench more than onstage. Is that the saddest thing you ever heard?

Sad to be sure, but sadder still is that it seems to occur with ever-increasing frequency. Forum boards are filled with such horror stories.

:(

Congrats on finding an amp that works for you and has the tone you like.
I've tried the VK series from Peavey and find them to have a nice clean tone.
Of course that can be a great thing for someone wanting a clean and solid platform on which to build their tone.
I haven't tried the VKII series, which Peavey says is improved and has a cool USB record out.
Peavey does make solid gear and they've had that good reputation for a long time, and that does matter.

Peavey does high gain very nicely. I've had a JSX 2x12 combo, and a XXX 60 watt 1x12 combo. Both of them were great high gain amps, and the JSX had a very nice clean tone as well, with some pre tube changes I got an even better clean tone.
When I started playing many years ago, I bought a Peavey Backstage 20 IIRC, it was solid state, but I played the heck out of that thing with not a single problem.

I still prefer Fender's clean tones though. I stayed away from Fender for years and years and it was because they don't do high gain very well.
I am really diggin my HR DLX3, and have my eye on a TRRI or a Twin Reverb with 1x15.

Enjoy your Peavey! Solid amp.

Ah yes, for that the Delta Blue may be a bit too warm and a bit gritty.
Have you considered the George Benson HR DLX3?
I've heard some demo's of it and it's a very sweet clean tone with lots of headroom.
It uses a Jenson C12K 100 watt speaker, so you won't get much speaker break up at higher levels.
