It is not as heavy as I thought from what I have been reading on the net and the old one I had before, in fact it is lighter than my Blues Deville, which is a good thing.

Transformer size is slightly reduced for the re-issues, hence the iron is a bit lighter than the originals. As well, the re-issues have cabinets of solid pine which is also lighter than the birch plywood of the Hot Rod and Blues DeVille amps.

Pedals will sound better after a few good loud hours on them, it loves the strat huh:) bassman side is pretty sweet clean!

Best sounding amp I have ever played through! It loves the strat, the telecaster, the Les Paul, and the Gretsch. All those guitars were made to play through this great amp!

Well the magic smoke has not escaped yet, so I guess the circuits are OK. But the speakers are still making a strange noise, I am thinking that the speakers are still pretty tight... I unhooked the internal speaker jacks and plugged it into one of my well broken in cabs and it does not make that noise and sounds real good.. Could also maybe be the tubes getting shook around when the internals are being used...

Guess I am gonna have to take it to one of the barns and crank it up and knock some of the wasp nests down, that ought to loosen the speakers up...

Maybe pop all of the tubes out and hit them with contact cleaner and plug them all back in...

" I am thinking that the speakers are still pretty tight. "

Maybe the speakers are not torqued down evenly? Or over-tightened?

It does not make the noise when I hook it up to an ext. cab...

I usually go through a new amp and make sure all the screws are tightened down, I had a lot of amps that the screws were loose. My twin was pretty tight though. Re seat the tubes also helps.

Everything seems to be bolted down pretty good...
With it only making the noise with the internal speakers leads me to think it is speaker related somehow...

The sound is like a faint ssssshhhhh sound after a note is played and the note starts to fade out...
It only does it on certain notes or tones....

I thought it was my Zoom G5 not getting along with it, so I unplugged it and went straight into the amp with a nice Vox coiled cable and the sound was still there....

Hooked it to the ext cab and no noise....

I will try and get a recording this eve and post it...

I am hoping just speakers not broken in yet or tube rattle from the speakers...

My DRRI never made that sound new, as far as I can remember..

I did hear that type of noise in my blues deville after I swapped all of the speakers out for brand new speakers.. It does not make that noise now, cuz I let a heavy metal player break them in for about eight months... It is a wonder they make any sound at all...

That's the unmistakable sound of a voice coil unraveling.

You've got a defective speaker.

Try disconnecting them one at a time to isolate which one is toast.

Well I gave that a try and both of the speakers make that sound....

My ext. cab sounds fine plugged into the main out...

I am gonna knock the hell out of the speakers this weekend with some volume and see if that diminishes it at all...

If not it looks like the Neo Lil Texas speakers or Jensen Neos are going to be the first upgrade, a little sooner than I wanted...

I think the stock Celestions in this thing are the Chinese ones, so not a real big loss...
